548 Cadillac Lyriqs held TLC licenses on October 12, 2026, all as for-hire vehicles (FHVs) and all battery electric. That makes the Lyriq the fifth most common EV in the TLC fleet, behind the Tesla Model Y (6,157), Fisker Ocean (2,731), Toyota bZ4X (1,159) and Tesla Model 3 (1,066).

It is also the newest model in this part of the fleet. Every Lyriq is model-year 2023 or later, and 336 (61%) are 2024 models. And unlike most EVs on TLC plates, it does some luxury work: 28 are at luxury limousine bases, while the Model Y has 6 and the Ocean none.

How we know

TLC's FHV and medallion lists don't name models, so we decoded every VIN with NHTSA's vPIC. The powertrain comes from vPIC's electrification fields. The data is a one-day snapshot.

TLC's vehicle lists have no make/model column, so TLC Help decoded the VIN of every licensed vehicle with NHTSA's vPIC decoder (one representative VIN per manufacturer + model-descriptor + model-year pattern) and published only counts. 5 of 115,081 vehicles (0%) could not be decoded to a model and are left out. vPIC sometimes reports trim-family names (e.g. 'RX' not 'RX 350h'); powertrain comes from vPIC's electrification/fuel fields and may misclassify a few model years. Snapshot lists change daily. Model year from TLC's vehicle_year / model_year columns. Age limits for TLC vehicles come from TLC rules, not this chart.

18 are 2023 models, 336 are 2024, 100 are 2025, 87 are 2026 and 7 are already 2027. So 96.7% are 2024 or newer, against about 31% of all FHVs. A young car is far from TLC's age limits; the rules are in TLC vehicle retirement age.

For the 2024 model year, fueleconomy.gov lists the rear-wheel-drive Lyriq at 314 miles of range and 88 MPGe combined, and the AWD at 307 miles and 89 MPGe. EPA estimates about 38 kWh per 100 miles. A full shift in cold weather, with heat on and many short trips, can use more. Plan charging with NYC EV charging for TLC drivers, and estimate savings against gas with the EV savings tool.

519 (94.7%) are at black car bases, 28 (5.1%) at luxury limousine bases and 1 at a livery base. For a luxury limousine seating fewer than 8 passengers, rule 59A-12(c)(3) sets a higher liability minimum ($500,000 per accident with one person hurt, $1,000,000 for all persons) than for a regular FHV. See FHV insurance requirements.

Where the Lyriq sits among TLC Cadillacs

Most Cadillacs on TLC plates burn gas: the Escalade ESV (2,156), the XT6 (1,372) and the older XTS sedan (181). The Lyriq is the biggest electric Cadillac group. The only other Cadillac among the ten most common electric models is the Vistiq, with 128 cars (dataset tlc-ev-top-models).

License rules for an electric Cadillac

  • EV-restricted licenses. Licenses issued under TLC's EV programs, rule 59A-06(a)(3) and (a)(4) in chapter 59, are restricted to fully battery electric vehicles. If your Lyriq carries one, its replacement must also be fully electric.
  • No new EV licenses for now. TLC's February 2026 license review says only WAV-restricted licenses are available. It counted 13,115 EVs in the FHV fleet, and said the growth came partly from 959 conversions of gas cars to EVs during the year, since no new EV-only licenses were issued. A conversion means moving an existing license from a gas car onto an EV.
  • No electric accessible option. The same review says no accessible electric vehicle is on the US market, and no Cadillac is on TLC's approved WAV list.
