734 Infiniti QX60s were TLC-licensed on October 12, 2026, all as for-hire vehicles (FHVs). It is the 23rd most common TLC model and the only Infiniti in the top 60.
Despite the luxury badge, the QX60 is almost purely an app car in NYC: 99.0% are at black car bases, and only 2 are at luxury limousine bases. Its age profile is unusual too. Model-year 2025 alone has 208 cars, and model-year 2021 has none.
Method in one paragraph
The FHV and medallion vehicle lists carry VINs but no model names. Every VIN was decoded with NHTSA's vPIC service, and only totals are published. Numbers are for one day.
Model years: steady rise, a gap, then a jump
From 2014 to 2020 the count climbs each year, from 9 to 100. Then 2021 is empty, 2022 to 2024 sit between 36 and 67, and 2025 jumps to 208. There are already 3 model-year 2027 cars. 39.8% of TLC QX60s are 2024 or newer (about 31% for all FHVs), but 41 (5.6%) are 2016 or older.
The 2021 gap is simple: fueleconomy.gov lists no 2021 QX60 at all, so there was none to license. The data can't explain the 2025 jump. If you buy used, look up the car's history and check TLC's retirement age rules for how long your model year can stay licensed.
Fuel: gas, and premium per EPA
733 decode as gas and 1 as hybrid. For the 2025 model year with the 2.0-liter turbo, fueleconomy.gov rates the FWD QX60 at 24 mpg combined (22 city, 28 highway) and the AWD at 24 combined (22 city, 27 highway). EPA lists premium gasoline for both. If you drive full time, the price gap between regular and premium adds up; enter your real fuel price in the lease-vs-buy tool. Mileage and fuel records also matter at tax time: see the tax deduction estimator.
Base types
727 at black car bases, 5 at livery bases, 2 at luxury limousine bases. None are taxis and none are marked wheelchair accessible.
Keeping a QX60 legal on the road
- Getting plates. Since July 20, 2024, new FHV licenses go only to wheelchair accessible vehicles on TLC's approved list (TLC). The QX60 is not on it, so you need an existing FHV license and a vehicle transfer. See TLC plates for FHVs.
- Three inspections a year. Rule 59A-26(a) in chapter 59 requires FHV inspections three times a year, at least once every four months. Missing one means a $100 fine and suspension until the car passes. Details: TLC vehicle inspection.
- Rear shoulder belts. Rule 59A-27(c) requires shoulder belts for both outside rear passenger seats, and 59A-27(b) requires every belt to be visible and working. In a three-row SUV, check that riders can reach the belts and that nothing covers them.
- Daily check by the owner. Rule 59A-27(e) says the owner must not let the car be driven without a daily personal inspection of brakes, lights, signals and passenger belts. The fine is $150 if you plead guilty before a hearing, $200 if found guilty after one. If you rent your QX60 to another driver, this duty is still yours.
The app tier is the app's decision
A TLC license makes the QX60 a legal for-hire vehicle. It does not decide which ride type the car gets in Uber or Lyft. Those vehicle lists are set by each company and can change, so check the app's own current list for your exact model year before you buy a QX60 expecting a premium tier.

Data on this page
Aggregates of public data. They describe trips and vehicles, never individual people.
TLC's vehicle lists have no make/model column, so TLC Help decoded the VIN of every licensed vehicle with NHTSA's vPIC decoder (one representative VIN per manufacturer + model-descriptor + model-year pattern) and published only counts. 5 of 115,081 vehicles (0%) could not be decoded to a model and are left out. vPIC sometimes reports trim-family names (e.g. 'RX' not 'RX 350h'); powertrain comes from vPIC's electrification/fuel fields and may misclassify a few model years. Snapshot lists change daily.

Frequently asked questions
How many Infiniti QX60s are licensed by the TLC?
734 on October 12, 2026, all for-hire vehicles and 0.64% of all TLC vehicles. It is the only Infiniti among the 60 most common TLC models. TLC Help counted them by decoding each VIN with NHTSA's vPIC decoder.
Why are there no 2021 QX60s in the data?
Because Infiniti skipped that model year. fueleconomy.gov lists a 2020 and a 2022 QX60 but no 2021 QX60, so the gap is in the model's history, not an error in TLC's lists.
Does the QX60 need premium gas?
For the 2025 model year, fueleconomy.gov lists premium fuel for both the FWD and AWD QX60, rated 24 mpg combined. Check your own owner's manual for your year.
Is the QX60 used for luxury limousine work in NYC?
Rarely. 727 of 734 (99.0%) are at black car bases, 5 at livery bases and only 2 at luxury limousine bases.
