Taxi zone 207, "Saint Michaels Cemetery/Woodside", is where TLC's Woodside inspection facility (24-55 BQE West) sits on TLC's zone map. As a place to find rides it is small, about 140 pickups a day. Its numbers are unusual. Pickups spike at the same hours every day of the week, app trips are the shortest and lowest-paid in Queens, and the few yellow taxi trips have a $60 median fare.

The trip numbers come from TLC trip records (yellow taxis, green cabs, and high-volume app trips such as Uber and Lyft), September 2025 to August 2026, totaled by TLC Help. The facility address is from TLC's locations page, placed on TLC's zone map with NYC's address geocoder; it sits near the line with zone 260, so the trips of people visiting the facility may be recorded in either zone.

Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Medians/rates need ≥250 trips (else null). labels are LocationIDs as strings; zones[] has names, boroughs, service_zone (from taxi_zone_lookup.csv), suggested slugs and neighbouring zone ids (shared boundary, from taxi_zones.zip).

Zone 207 at a glance

The zone touches Astoria (7), Jackson Heights (129), Steinway (223) and Woodside (260) on TLC's map. Don't mix it up with zone 260, which TLC simply calls "Woodside". Both carry the "Boro Zone" label, a data category rather than a legal line.

If you are going to the facility for an inspection, decals or a hack-up, see the Woodside facility guide for phone numbers, hours and what to bring.

The same spikes every day

On weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays alike, pickups jump to about 16 an hour at 4 a.m., stay high at 5 a.m., then rise again around 10–11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Between the spikes the zone sees only 2–7 pickups an hour. 18.4% of the week's pickups start between midnight and 5 a.m., a high share for Queens.

A pattern this regular, with weekends matching weekdays, looks schedule-driven. The trip records do not say what causes it, so don't plan your shift on a guess about it.

Fares and pay

App trips are tiny: 1.83 miles, 9.5 minutes, a $12.34 fare and $9.01 driver pay at the median, all the lowest in Queens outside the airports. Pay per engaged hour ($61.11) is near the Queens middle, because trips are quick. The hourly figure ignores time spent waiting, so real earnings per hour are lower.

Yellow taxis made 4,751 pickups (9.3%, 3rd-highest share in Queens). Their median trip was 6.01 miles with a $60.00 metered fare, and card riders tipped 17.6%. The data alone cannot explain the high fare.
