184 Nissan Pathfinders held TLC licenses on October 12, 2026, all as for-hire vehicles (FHVs). It is the 59th most common TLC model. All 184 decode as gas, and there is a hole in the model years: no 2021 Pathfinders, because the EPA lists none for that year.
For a driver, the Pathfinder's numbers are simple. One powertrain, steady EPA mileage across generations, and a fleet split between pre-2021 and 2022-and-newer cars.
Data source and limits
TLC's active FHV list and medallion list show VINs but not models. TLC Help decoded them with NHTSA's vPIC decoder and counted the results. Fuel type comes from vPIC and may be wrong for a few model years. The lists change daily.
Two generations, one missing year
From 2013 to 2020, Pathfinders come in at 3 to 17 per year, 86 cars in all. The EPA's listings then skip 2021 and resume in 2022. The newer cars are bunched closer together: 25 from 2022, 23 from 2023 and 24 from 2024, then 17 and 9 for 2025 and 2026. Overall the median model year is 2022.
The older group is large for a TLC model. 34 Pathfinders (18.5%) are 2016 or older, compared with about 10% of all FHVs, and 50 (27.2%) are 2024 or newer, compared with about 31%. TLC's current rules set no fixed retirement age for FHVs; the car must pass inspection three times a year, at least once every four months (rule 59A-26(a), chapter 59). See TLC vehicle retirement age and TLC vehicle inspection.
Gas only
The EPA did list a Pathfinder Hybrid for 2014 and 2015. TLC has 19 Pathfinders from those years, but none decodes as a hybrid. Across all FHVs, about 30% decode as hybrid and about 13% as fully electric; gas cars are still the largest group, at about 56%.

The ratings barely move: a newer Pathfinder will not save fuel over an older one on paper. At 23 mpg, the car uses about 43 gallons per 1,000 miles. Compare that with a hybrid of similar size in the lease-vs-buy tool, or read EV vs hybrid for Uber in NYC.
Buying a used one
Because there is no 2021 model year, a listing that calls a Pathfinder a "2021" may be using the year it was first sold or registered, not its model year. Decode the VIN yourself with NHTSA's free vPIC decoder to see the real model year and engine, and check the same VIN for open recalls before you pay.
Bases
181 (98.4%) are at black car bases, the type that app trips run through, and 3 at livery bases. None are taxis, none at luxury limousine bases, and none are marked wheelchair accessible.
Plates
TLC issues new FHV licenses only for wheelchair accessible vehicles that meet its criteria (TLC). A Pathfinder needs an existing license that is not WAV-restricted. Apply to transfer it within 15 days of the DMV registration; approval comes after the car passes TLC inspection (rule 59A-09(a)). See TLC plates for FHVs.
The Honda Pilot is also all gas. The Kia Sorento is the only one in this group with a large hybrid share. See also the Ford Explorer, Infiniti QX60 and TLC fleet by make and model.

Data on this page
Aggregates of public data. They describe trips and vehicles, never individual people.
TLC's vehicle lists have no make/model column, so TLC Help decoded the VIN of every licensed vehicle with NHTSA's vPIC decoder (one representative VIN per manufacturer + model-descriptor + model-year pattern) and published only counts. 5 of 115,081 vehicles (0%) could not be decoded to a model and are left out. vPIC sometimes reports trim-family names (e.g. 'RX' not 'RX 350h'); powertrain comes from vPIC's electrification/fuel fields and may misclassify a few model years. Snapshot lists change daily.

Frequently asked questions
How many Nissan Pathfinders are licensed by the TLC?
184 on October 12, 2026, all for-hire vehicles and none as yellow taxis, or 0.16% of TLC vehicles. TLC Help counted them by decoding VINs with NHTSA's vPIC decoder.
Why are there no 2021 Pathfinders on TLC plates?
The EPA's fuel economy listings show Pathfinders for 2020 and 2022 but none for 2021. So a gap in TLC's data for 2021 is expected; it is not missing data.
Is there a hybrid Nissan Pathfinder?
The EPA lists a Pathfinder Hybrid for model years 2014 and 2015 only. None of the 184 TLC Pathfinders decode as hybrid, including the 19 from those two years. vPIC can misclassify a few vehicles, so check a specific car's window sticker or VIN.
What mileage does the Pathfinder get?
The EPA rates the 2017, 2022 and 2024 Pathfinder 2WD all at 23 mpg combined on regular gas, even though the engine and transmission changed between generations.
