Bloomingdale (TLC zone 24) sits in a gap between two Manhattan lines. It is south of West 110th Street, so green cabs may not take hails here, but it is north of 96th Street, so trips that stay up here do not pay the NYS congestion surcharge. In the 12 months to August 2026 the zone had 471,144 pickups (about 1,291 a day), and yellow taxis had a solid 29.3% of them.
The counts are TLC trip records (yellow, green, Uber/Lyft) totalled by TLC Help. Each trip is tagged with a zone, not an address.
Bloomingdale at a glance
Zone 24 is small. On TLC's map it borders Manhattan Valley (151), Central Park (43), Morningside Heights (166) and Central Harlem (41). TLC's lookup labels it "Yellow Zone", like the zones of central Manhattan. That label is a data category, not a legal line.
We placed the zone by comparing TLC's zone shape with the city's street centerline file: all of it lies south of West 110th Street, north of 96th Street and west of Fifth Avenue. The definitions are in TLC's Chapter 51 and the state congestion surcharge page.
When rides start and end
Weekday mornings are the peak: about 92 pickups at 8 a.m. and 80 at 9 a.m. Saturdays (about 1,474 pickups) are busier than weekdays (1,261) and peak at 6 p.m. Sundays peak at 10 a.m. Drop-offs lean late: weekday drop-offs peak at 6 p.m. and Saturday drop-offs at 11 p.m.
Through the year
Pickups were lowest in September 2025 (35,857) and highest in May 2026 (45,256). August 2026 (36,098) was almost the same as September 2025.
Where trips go
Trips go both north and south. Morningside Heights (7.1%) is the top destination, then Upper West Side North (6.4%) and Upper West Side South (5.8%). Central Harlem (4.9%) and the two East Harlem zones are next. One in five app pickups (20.1%) was charged the Congestion Relief Zone fee, and 6.6% went to an airport.
Fares, tips and pay
Yellow taxi trips from here are short: a median of 2.3 miles, 13.8 minutes and $15.60 on the meter, with a 21.7% card tip rate. App trips run a little longer (2.76 miles, $18.07 fare). The median app driver pay is $15.12 per trip (tips and tolls excluded), the lowest of any Manhattan zone TLC labels "Yellow Zone" and well below that group's $18.14 median. App riders tip about $1.45 a trip.
Green cabs and for-hire pickups here
The records still show 3,169 green cab pickups in this zone over the year. They give only the zone, not the street or whether the trip was a hail or a dispatch, so they can't show where these trips began. The rule itself is clear: a green cab driver must not solicit passengers in the Hail Exclusionary Zone or accept a pre-arranged trip that begins in the Pre-Arranged Exclusionary Zone, which covers the same part of Manhattan (80-19(b)(1); first violation $500 and suspension). One zone north, in Morningside Heights, hails are allowed.
For-hire drivers who pick up without a pre-arranged trip here face the higher 80-19(c)(2) penalties. DOT's data lists no relief stand or taxi-stand sign in this zone.

Aggregates of public data. They describe trips and vehicles, never individual people.
Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Monthly cells with 1–9 trips are shown as blank (null). Pairs with fewer than 10 trips are not listed.
