Erasmus (TLC zone 85) is a mid-sized Flatbush-area zone with something most Brooklyn zones lack: a relief stand and a taxi stand. From September 2025 to August 2026, 835,516 trips started here (about 2,289 a day), 34th of 61 Brooklyn zones. Saturday is the big day, peaking late at 10 p.m. Most trips go a short way to Flatbush/Ditmas Park, Prospect-Lefferts Gardens or East Flatbush.
The numbers are TLC trip records for yellow, green and high-volume app (Uber, Lyft) trips, aggregated by TLC Help. Black car and livery trips not dispatched by an app are not included.
Erasmus at a glance
TLC's lookup table labels zone 85 a Brooklyn "Boro Zone". The label is used only for data. On TLC's map, Erasmus touches just three zones: East Flatbush/Farragut, Flatbush/Ditmas Park and Prospect-Lefferts Gardens.
Pickups (835,516) and drop-offs (835,845) are almost exactly equal. Apps did 98.0% of pickups, yellow cabs 2.0% (16,343) and green cabs 286.
When rides start
On weekdays, the 8 a.m. hour is the busiest (about 139 pickups), with a second, flatter peak at 5 to 7 p.m. (about 124 to 128 an hour). Late evening stays fairly busy, at more than 100 an hour until midnight.
Saturday is the biggest day, about 2,784 pickups against 2,161 on a weekday. It climbs into the night and peaks at 10 p.m. (about 179), with 11 p.m. close behind (about 167). Sunday averages about 2,439. Its top hour is midnight (about 136), the end of Saturday night, and its afternoon and early evening are steady at about 114 to 129 an hour.
Month by month
December 2025 was the busiest month (74,657 pickups) and September 2025 the quietest (61,463). From March to August 2026, every month had between about 70,000 and 74,000.
Yellow pickups were about 1,360 to 1,720 a month until May 2026, then fell to 817 in June and 730 by August. App trips did not fall.

Stands in zone 85, and the rules
DOT's open data (checked October 12, 2026) shows two places in this zone that matter to drivers:
- Relief stand, Beverley Road: south side, between East 29th Street and Nostrand Avenue, 3 spaces, signed "TAXI/FHV RELIEF STAND 1 HOUR LIMIT" with no posted hours (vqu8-xef9). It is one of only three relief stands DOT lists in Brooklyn. Any driver may take a vacant space but must obey the posted vehicle types and time limit (80-19(d)(7)). NYC DOT says relief stands let drivers park and leave their vehicles for up to one hour, and that relief stands are not taxi stands. See relief stands.
- Taxi stand, Tilden Avenue: between Flatbush Avenue and Bedford Avenue, signed "TAXI HAIL (SYMBOL) TAXI STAND 9PM-MIDNIGHT ALL DAYS" (nfid-uabd). During those hours, yellow cabs, and green cabs (all of Brooklyn is in the Hail Zone), may take a vacant spot (80-19(d)(1)). App and other for-hire drivers must not pick up at a taxi stand (80-19(d)(2), $350 for a first violation).
Away from the stands, yellow and green cabs may take hails, and app drivers need a base dispatch (80-19(c)(1)). See taxi stand rules. This is general information, not legal advice. Always follow the sign on the street.

Data on this page
Aggregates of public data. They describe trips and vehicles, never individual people.
Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Monthly cells with 1–9 trips are shown as blank (null). Pairs with fewer than 10 trips are not listed.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a relief stand in the Erasmus zone?
Yes. DOT lists a taxi/FHV relief stand on the south side of Beverley Road between East 29th Street and Nostrand Avenue, with 3 spaces and a 1-hour limit (checked October 12, 2026). App drivers may use it too, because it is signed for taxis and FHVs.
When can taxis use the Tilden Avenue taxi stand?
DOT's sign records show a taxi stand on Tilden Avenue between Flatbush Avenue and Bedford Avenue signed '9PM-MIDNIGHT ALL DAYS'. Yellow and green cabs may use it in those hours. App and other for-hire drivers must not pick up at a taxi stand.
How busy is Erasmus for Uber and Lyft?
About 2,244 app pickups a day. In the 12 months to August 2026, 835,516 trips started in zone 85, 34th of 61 Brooklyn zones, and apps did 98.0% of them.
