Prospect Park (TLC zone 190) is a weekend, daytime and spring zone. From September 2025 to August 2026, 151,954 trips started here, about 416 a day, 59th of 61 Brooklyn zones. A Saturday has more than twice the pickups of a weekday, and the busiest hour on both weekend days is 5 p.m. Many more riders arrive than leave: 206,021 trips ended here, 36% more than started.
The numbers are TLC trip records for yellow, green and high-volume app (Uber, Lyft) trips, aggregated by TLC Help. Non-app black car and livery trips are not included.
Prospect Park at a glance
Zone 190 carries the "Boro Zone" label in TLC's lookup table. It is a data label, not a legal boundary. Six zones border it on TLC's map: Crown Heights South, Flatbush/Ditmas Park, Park Slope, Prospect-Lefferts Gardens, Prospect Heights and Windsor Terrace. Every one of those neighbors has far more trips.
Apps did 97.5% of pickups. Yellow cabs had 3,642 pickups (2.4%), about 10 a day. Green cabs had only 118, so several green monthly cells are blank: TLC Help hides counts of 1 to 9 trips.
When rides start
A Saturday averages about 734 pickups and a Sunday about 574, against about 322 on a weekday. That Saturday-to-weekday ratio (2.3 to 1) is the highest of any Brooklyn zone. Weekend pickups rise from late morning, peak in the 5 p.m. hour (about 68 on Saturdays and 59 on Sundays), then fall by about a quarter in the 6 p.m. hour.
Drop-offs come earlier. They peak at 2 p.m. on Saturdays (about 85) and 1 p.m. on Sundays (about 77). In other words, riders arrive around midday and leave in the late afternoon. On weekdays, pickups peak at 5 to 6 p.m. at only about 25 an hour. Before 8 a.m. there are fewer than 10 an hour.
Month by month
Season matters more here than next door. The busiest month had 1.65 times the pickups of the quietest; in the six neighboring zones that ratio is between 1.16 and 1.27. May 2026 was the busiest month (15,519 pickups), with April (14,470) and June (15,008) close behind. February 2026 was the quietest (9,386). July 2026 dipped to 12,372 before August recovered to 13,854.
Where trips go
Trips from the park area go mostly to the neighborhoods around it, led by Park Slope:
- Park Slope: 9.9%
- Crown Heights North: 6.2%
- Flatbush/Ditmas Park: 5.2%
- Prospect-Lefferts Gardens: 4.7%
- Prospect Heights: 3.1%
- Clinton Hill: 3.0%
The top ten take 42.4% of pickups. Park Slope is also the top origin for trips that end here (10.0% of drop-offs).
Fares, trip length and driver pay
App trips from here are a little longer than the Brooklyn norm: median 2.82 miles and 17.2 minutes, with an $18.94 fare. The median driver pay is $15.84 before tips and tolls, tied for 15th of 61 in Brooklyn. Tips are above average too: 6.1% of fares, $1.50 per trip on average.
8.2% of app pickups and 21.7% of yellow pickups were charged the Manhattan congestion fee, so some of these riders are heading into Manhattan. Only 2.1% of app pickups go to an airport.
Pickup rules and stands
Zone 190 is in TLC's Hail Zone, like the rest of Brooklyn. Yellow and green cabs may accept a hail; an app driver may only pick up the rider the base dispatched (80-19(c)(1), Chapter 80). Normal traffic and parking rules apply around the park; this page has no official source for any special pickup rule here. See who can pick up where. This is general information, not legal advice.
Stands: DOT's data lists no relief stand, taxi stand or taxi/FHV pickup zone in zone 190 (checked October 12, 2026). DOT lists only three relief stands in Brooklyn. One is in neighboring Park Slope, on 4th Avenue between Prospect Avenue and 16th Street (weekdays 8 a.m.–6 p.m.).

Data on this page
Aggregates of public data. They describe trips and vehicles, never individual people.
Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Monthly cells with 1–9 trips are shown as blank (null). Pairs with fewer than 10 trips are not listed.
