Park Slope (TLC zone 181) is one of Brooklyn's biggest app markets, and one of its better ones per trip. From September 2025 to August 2026, 2,457,598 trips started here (about 6,733 a day), 6th of 61 Brooklyn zones. Riders here tip more than in most of the borough, and 5.3% of app pickups go to an airport, about twice the Brooklyn zone median. It is also one of only three Brooklyn zones with a DOT relief stand.
Figures are from TLC trip records for yellow, green and high-volume app trips, aggregated by TLC Help. Black car and livery trips not dispatched by an app company are not included.
Park Slope at a glance
TLC's lookup table labels zone 181 a Brooklyn "Boro Zone", a data category rather than a legal area. Its seven neighbors on TLC's zone map are Boerum Hill, Fort Greene, Gowanus, Prospect Heights, Prospect Park, Sunset Park West and Windsor Terrace.
Park Slope is a destination as well as an origin: 2,567,769 trips ended here, 5th in Brooklyn. Yellow cabs show this most. They made 131,378 drop-offs here but only 50,228 pickups. Green cabs had 2,125 pickups, 8th in the borough.
When rides start
Weekday demand has two peaks: 8 a.m. (about 337 pickups) and 6 p.m. (about 429). Evenings stay strong, at close to 400 pickups an hour from 7 to 10 p.m.
Saturday is the big day (about 8,873 pickups, against 6,252 on a weekday). From 5 p.m. to midnight it holds between about 540 and 590 pickups an hour, with 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. almost tied at the top. Sunday starts with a late Saturday crowd (about 516 pickups in the midnight hour). After that it is a daytime day, peaking at about 420 around 6 p.m. and dropping off early in the evening.
Month by month
Winter was busier than summer. December 2025 had the most pickups (222,900), and August 2026 the fewest (184,564). July and August 2026 were both well below the spring months.
Where trips go
12.1% of trips start and end inside Park Slope. The rest spread across central and south Brooklyn, and no single other zone takes more than 5%:
- Crown Heights North: 4.7%
- Sunset Park West: 3.8%
- Flatbush/Ditmas Park and Prospect Heights: 3.3% each
- Boerum Hill: 3.2%
The top ten together take just 41.3% of pickups. The rest go farther, including into Manhattan: 11.7% of app pickups and 25.6% of yellow pickups were charged the Congestion Relief Zone fee.
Fares, trip length and driver pay
The median app trip is 2.67 miles and 16.7 minutes, with an $18.85 fare. The median driver pay is $15.41 before tips and tolls, above the Brooklyn zone median of $13.90. Tips equal 6.7% of app fares, with an average of $1.75.
Taxi riders tip on card too: 6.6% of yellow fares and 17.6% of green fares. Card tips are the only tips recorded; cash tips are not in the data.
Relief stand, curb signs and pickup rules
DOT's open data lists two curb facilities for drivers in zone 181 (checked October 12, 2026):
- Relief stand: east side of 4th Avenue between Prospect Avenue and 16th Street, 3 spaces. The sign reads "TAXI/FHV RELIEF STAND 1 HOUR LIMIT MONDAY-FRIDAY 8AM-6PM", so app drivers may use it too (vqu8-xef9). It is one of only three relief stands DOT lists in Brooklyn.
- Pickup/drop-off zone: Flatbush Avenue between Atlantic Avenue and Pacific Street, signed "TAXI/FHV 7AM-MIDNIGHT ALL DAYS PICK-UP/DROP-OFF ONLY" (nfid-uabd).
At a relief stand you may take any vacant space, but you must obey the posted vehicle types and time limit (rule 80-19(d)(7)). A relief stand is not a taxi stand. See taxi relief stands.
Park Slope is in TLC's Hail Zone: yellow and green cabs may take hails here, and app drivers need a base dispatch for every pickup (80-19(c)(1)). On trips into Manhattan at or below 60th Street, riders pay $1.50 per app trip or $0.75 per taxi trip, as of 2026-10-12 (MTA). This is general information, not legal advice.

Data on this page
Aggregates of public data. They describe trips and vehicles, never individual people.
Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Monthly cells with 1–9 trips are shown as blank (null). Pairs with fewer than 10 trips are not listed.
