Windsor Terrace (TLC zone 257) is a small zone where app riders tip more than anywhere else in Brooklyn. From September 2025 to August 2026, 398,614 trips started here (about 1,092 a day), 52nd of 61 Brooklyn zones. App tips came to 8.0% of fares, the borough's highest rate, and 5.5% of app pickups went to an airport, about twice the Brooklyn norm. On weekdays the morning is busier than the evening.
The figures come from TLC trip records for yellow, green and high-volume app (Uber, Lyft) trips, aggregated by TLC Help. Black car and livery trips not dispatched by an app are not included.
Windsor Terrace at a glance
TLC's lookup table calls zone 257 a Brooklyn "Boro Zone". That is a data label, not a legal boundary. It touches six zones on TLC's map: Flatbush/Ditmas Park, Green-Wood Cemetery, Kensington, Park Slope, Prospect Park and Sunset Park West.
More trips end here (442,606) than start here. The gap is widest for yellow cabs: 22,105 yellow drop-offs against 6,517 yellow pickups, more than three to one. Apps did 98.3% of pickups.
When rides start
On weekdays the 8 a.m. hour is the busiest, at about 76 pickups, ahead of the 6 p.m. hour (about 67). That morning-first shape is the opposite of neighboring Park Slope, where the weekday evening peak is higher.
Saturday is the busiest day (about 1,377 pickups) and peaks at 6 p.m. (about 94). Sunday is a daytime day: its busiest hour is noon (about 76), and it is quiet by late evening. A weekday averages about 1,030 pickups and a Sunday about 1,120.
Month by month
December 2025 had the most pickups (36,074) and September 2025 the fewest (29,197). Summer was slow: July (30,169) and August 2026 (30,945) were the two quietest months after September. Green cabs rarely pick up here, so several green months are blank (1–9 trips are hidden).
Where trips go
Park Slope is the main destination by a wide margin, and also the main origin (15.1% of drop-offs).
- Park Slope: 15.1%
- Flatbush/Ditmas Park: 6.8%
- Sunset Park West: 4.9%
- Windsor Terrace itself: 4.0%
- Kensington: 3.2%
- Prospect-Lefferts Gardens: 3.0%
- JFK Airport: 2.7%
JFK is also on the arrivals list (2.5% of drop-offs). For airport rules, see the JFK page.
Fares, trip length and driver pay
The median app trip is 2.9 miles and 15.6 minutes, with an $18.34 fare. The median driver pay is $14.86 before tips and tolls, 22nd of 61 in Brooklyn. Add the tips and an app trip from here is worth more to the driver than the pay figure alone shows.
Yellow trips from Windsor Terrace are long: median 7.21 miles and $33.07 on the meter, the 5th-highest yellow median fare in Brooklyn. 29.3% of them were charged the Manhattan congestion fee, against 11.7% of app pickups. The per-trip charge is $0.75 for a taxi and $1.50 for an app trip, as of 2026-10-12 (MTA).
Pickup rules and stands
Windsor Terrace is in TLC's Hail Zone. Yellow and green cabs may take hails. App drivers must take only base-dispatched riders (80-19(c)(1), Chapter 80). See who can pick up where. This is general information, not legal advice.
Stands: DOT's data shows no relief stand, taxi stand or taxi/FHV pickup zone in zone 257 (checked October 12, 2026). One of the three relief stands DOT lists in Brooklyn is in neighboring Park Slope, on 4th Avenue between Prospect Avenue and 16th Street, open to taxis and FHVs on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. with a 1-hour limit.

Data on this page
Aggregates of public data. They describe trips and vehicles, never individual people.
Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Monthly cells with 1–9 trips are shown as blank (null). Pairs with fewer than 10 trips are not listed.
