Greenwich Village North (TLC zone 113) had 1,975,850 pickups from September 2025 to August 2026, about 5,413 a day, 33rd of Manhattan's 69 zones. Compared with its neighbours it is an early-evening zone: the busiest weekday hour for pickups is 6 p.m., not late at night. It also slowed down more in summer than any of the six zones it borders, and yellow-cab riders who paid by card tipped 24.3% of the fare.
Zone 113 at a glance
The lookup table gives zone 113 the label "Yellow Zone". It describes how TLC groups data, not where any rule applies. The zone touches six others: Union Sq, East Village, Gramercy, Flatiron, West Village and Greenwich Village South.
When rides start and end here
On a weekday, pickups rise from a 3 a.m. low to a 6 p.m. peak (388), then stay close to that level until 9 p.m. Both pickups and drop-offs peak at 6 p.m. on weekdays, so the zone is busy in both directions after work. 12% of weekday pickups start between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m.
Saturday is the biggest day, about 6,650 pickups against 5,240 on a weekday (27% more). That is a smaller weekend jump than in the West Village next door. Saturday peaks at 10 p.m.; Sunday's top hour is midnight (370).
Month by month
October 2025 was the busiest month (184,856 pickups). The three slowest were June, July and August 2026, ending at 141,612 in August, 23% below October. With one year of data we can't say if this is a yearly pattern or a change.
Where trips from here go
East Village is the top destination (4.1% of pickups), followed by TriBeCa/Civic Center and "Outside NYC" (3.5% each) and Union Sq (3.4%). Riders arriving here most often come from East Village or Union Sq (4.3% of drop-offs each). The top ten destinations add up to only about a third of trips, so rides spread across the city.
Yellow, green and app
App pickups: 1,342,393. Yellow: 633,423 (32.1%). Green: 34 pickups and 669 drop-offs, because green cabs may only drop off south of East 96th/West 110th Streets (who can pick up where).
Fares and driver pay
Yellow trips are short: median 1.54 miles, 12.3 minutes and a $13.50 meter fare. The 24.3% card tip rate is above the 23.1% middle value for Manhattan's Yellow Zone zones. App trips had a median fare of $24.44, median driver pay of $17.09 and an average tip of $1.79 (5.5% of the fare).
Legal lines
All of zone 113 is inside the MTA Congestion Relief Zone, the 96th Street congestion-surcharge area and the Hail Exclusionary Zone. The CRZ fee appeared on 99.6% of app pickups and 98.8% of yellow pickups. Passengers pay it: $1.50 on Uber/Lyft trips, $0.75 on taxi trips (as of 2026-10-12). The congestion fee calculator adds it up for a given trip.
Stands and practical notes
DOT's sign file (checked 2026-10-12) shows one current taxi-stand sign: Fourth Avenue between East 10th and East 11th Streets, east side. There is no relief stand in the zone; the nearest in DOT's list is a taxi-only stand on East 15th Street between Irving Place and Union Square East (Gramercy), and the nearest open to FHVs is on Third Avenue between East 14th and 15th Streets. At a taxi stand, the drivers of the first two cabs must stay in the driver's seat (TLC Rule 80-19(d)(6)), and app drivers may not pick up there at all (80-19(d)(2)). See taxi stand rules.

Data on this page
Aggregates of public data. They describe trips and vehicles, never individual people.
Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Monthly cells with 1–9 trips are shown as blank (null). Pairs with fewer than 10 trips are not listed.
