Highbridge (TLC zone 119) sits on the Harlem River across from upper Manhattan, and its trips show it. About 2,398 trips a day start here (875,314 in the 12 months to August 2026), 19th of 43 Bronx zones. Two Manhattan zones are in its top ten destinations, and it has one of the Bronx's larger green cab businesses, which rises and falls with the seasons.
Green cabs made 760 of the pickups, yellow taxis 10,823 and Uber/Lyft 863,731, in TLC Help's count of TLC trip records. Those files do not cover black car or livery trips booked outside the big apps.
Highbridge at a glance
On TLC's zone map, Highbridge has just two land neighbors: University Heights/Morris Heights (235) to the north and West Concourse (247) to the east. Yankee Stadium is in West Concourse, just across the zone line (our check against TLC's zone map). TLC labels zone 119 a "Boro Zone". That label only sorts the trip data.
When rides start and end
Weekday pickups peak at 8 a.m. (about 191) and 7 a.m. (178). Weekday drop-offs peak in the evening instead, at 6 p.m. (162) and 5 p.m. (156). On Saturdays, pickups are highest at 10 p.m. (147), but drop-offs are higher still late at night: 198 at 11 p.m. On Sundays the top pickup hour is midnight, and 19.5% of Sunday pickups start between midnight and 5 a.m.
A seasonal green cab business
Green cabs made 760 pickups here, more than in almost any other Bronx zone (only West Concourse had clearly more; see green cab pickups by zone). They are seasonal. Green pickups were 104 in September 2025 and 82 in October, then just 16 to 31 a month from November to March, then back to 110 in April and 112 in August 2026. West Concourse next door shows the same rise and fall. The trip records do not link trips to events, so they cannot tell you the cause.
Overall pickups were lowest in September 2025 (64,653) and highest in March 2026 (80,325). Yellow pickups fell from about 1,000 a month to 494 in June, then partly recovered to 682 in July and August.
Where trips go
West Concourse takes 9.1% of pickups, followed by Highbridge itself (6.2%), University Heights/Morris Heights (5.5%) and East Concourse/Concourse Village (5.3%). Washington Heights South (4.5%) and Central Harlem North (3.4%) are the Manhattan zones in the top ten, and Washington Heights North also appears among the top origins.
Fares, pay and the congestion fee
The median app trip is 2.65 miles, 14.3 minutes and $15.72, with $13.84 median driver pay (11th-highest of 42 Bronx zones). Green cab trips are long: a median of 7.39 miles and $30.30, and green riders who paid by card tipped 16.5% of the fare. Yellow medians are 6.57 miles and $30.50.
Many taxi trips head downtown. 13.0% of yellow and 25.8% of green pickups paid the MTA Congestion Relief Zone fee, against 5.0% of app pickups. As of 2026-10-12, that fee is $0.75 per taxi or green cab trip and $1.50 per app trip, paid by the passenger (MTA).
Stands and pickup rules
- Taxi stand sign: DOT's current sign records (nfid-uabd, checked October 2026) show a "taxi stand" sign on the east side of Jerome Avenue between Elliot Place and East 170th Street, from an order completed in May 2024. The same order placed a sign that falls on the West Concourse side, so the stand sits on the zone's edge. Green cabs must not cruise within 100 feet of an authorized taxi stand (80-19(b)(2)(ii)), and FHV drivers may not pick up at one (80-19(d)(2)). See taxi stand rules.
- No relief stand is listed in the zone. The closest is a 2-space taxi/FHV stand on Third Avenue in Melrose South, about a mile away.
- Hail Zone: all of zone 119 is in TLC's Hail Zone (Chapter 51). A green cab picking up here may drive the passenger into Manhattan; the rule is only about where the hail happens.

Data on this page
Aggregates of public data. They describe trips and vehicles, never individual people.
Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Monthly cells with 1–9 trips are shown as blank (null). Pairs with fewer than 10 trips are not listed.
