Longwood (TLC zone 147) is a smaller south Bronx zone squeezed between busier ones. About 1,478 trips a day start here (539,309 in the 12 months to August 2026), 35th of 43 Bronx zones and fewer than any of its four neighbors. Per trip, app drivers do better than in most of the Bronx ($14.25 median pay), but trips are slow. Hunts Point is the top destination.
App trips made 533,368 of the pickups; yellow taxis made 5,771 and green cabs 170. All of it comes from TLC trip records as totaled by TLC Help. Black car and livery rides outside the apps are not included.
Longwood at a glance
TLC's zone map gives Longwood four neighbors: Hunts Point (126), Melrose South (159), Morrisania/Melrose (167) and Mott Haven/Port Morris (168). Each of them had more pickups than Longwood. The "Boro Zone" label in TLC's lookup table is a data category, not a rule.
When rides start and end
Weekday pickups peak at 8 a.m. (about 118) and 7 a.m. (101). On Saturdays the busiest pickup hours are 7, 8 and 10 p.m. (about 93 each). Sunday is split between afternoon and night: 3 p.m. and midnight both average about 77 pickups.
Nights matter more for arrivals. On Saturdays, drop-offs peak at 11 p.m. (about 99), and on Sundays at midnight (about 96). 23.4% of Sunday drop-offs happen between midnight and 5 a.m.
Month by month
Pickups were lowest in September 2025 (38,299) and highest in March 2026 (51,000). In summer 2026 they held at about 44,000 to 45,000 a month. Yellow taxis made 5,771 pickups in the year; in June to August 2026 that fell to about 210 to 250 a month.
Where trips go
Hunts Point takes 7.8% of pickups, just ahead of Melrose South (7.5%). Then come Mott Haven/Port Morris (5.7%), Morrisania/Melrose (5.5%) and trips inside Longwood (4.2%). For trips ending here, Melrose South (6.9%) and Hunts Point (6.6%) are the top starting zones. No Manhattan zone appears in either top ten.
Fares and pay: good per trip, slow per mile
The median app trip is 2.61 miles in 15.1 minutes, with a $15.96 fare and $14.25 driver pay. Both are above the Bronx middle ($15.27 fare, $13.50 pay). But trips are slow, so pay per engaged hour is $59.09, near the bottom of the Bronx (40th of 42). Engaged hours count only time with a passenger; they are not hourly earnings. App riders tip 1.2% of the fare. See the pay estimator for how TLC's minimum pay is set.
Yellow trips run a median 5.47 miles and $27.50. 7.1% of yellow and 3.7% of app pickups paid the MTA Congestion Relief Zone fee, so most trips stay out of Manhattan's core.

- App and other FHV drivers may only pick up through their base (80-19(c)(1)).

Data on this page
Aggregates of public data. They describe trips and vehicles, never individual people.
Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Monthly cells with 1–9 trips are shown as blank (null). Pairs with fewer than 10 trips are not listed.
