Hunts Point (TLC zone 126) is where the Bronx's pre-dawn arrivals show up in the data. On weekdays, drop-offs start rising at 3 a.m., while most zones are at their quietest, and 9.1% of weekday drop-offs land between 3 and 6 a.m., the highest share in the Bronx. Overall, 811,815 trips started here (about 2,224 a day) in the 12 months to August 2026, right in the middle of the 43 Bronx zones, and 917,811 ended here, 13% more.

Pickups were 804,142 app trips, 7,510 yellow taxi trips and 163 green cab trips, as totaled by TLC Help from TLC trip records. Black car and livery trips not sent through a high-volume app are missing from those files.

Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Medians/rates need ≥250 trips (else null). labels are LocationIDs as strings; zones[] has names, boroughs, service_zone (from taxi_zone_lookup.csv), suggested slugs and neighbouring zone ids (shared boundary, from taxi_zones.zip).

Early arrivals, evening departures

The drop-off chart is the one to read. On an average weekday, drop-offs fall to about 43 at 2 a.m., then rise to 56 at 3 a.m., 71 at 4 a.m. and 111 at 5 a.m., and peak at 8 a.m. (about 220). In the 6–10 a.m. window, 27% of weekday drop-offs arrive.

Pickups run the other way. The weekday pickup peak is 8 a.m. (about 155), but 5 p.m. is close (146), and 4–8 p.m. holds 23.1% of weekday pickups. Weekends are quieter: a Sunday averages about 1,813 pickups, 21% fewer than a weekday (2,283), one of the biggest weekday-to-Sunday drops in the Bronx.
