Morrisania/Melrose (TLC zone 167) is a busy south Bronx zone with a strong early-morning rush and slow, short trips. In the 12 months to August 2026, 978,242 trips started here (about 2,680 a day), 15th of 43 Bronx zones. Because trips are slow for their length, app pay per engaged hour was the lowest in the Bronx, even though pay per trip is about average. Melrose South is the top destination.

Uber and Lyft pickups numbered 965,887, yellow taxi pickups 12,046 and green cab pickups 309 (TLC trip records, totaled by TLC Help). Non-app livery and black car trips do not show up in these files.

'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Fares and pay: average per trip, low per hour

The median app trip is 2.23 miles and 14.6 minutes, with a $15.20 fare. Median driver pay is $13.33 per trip, a little under the Bronx middle ($13.50). But pay per engaged hour is $58.02, the lowest of 42 Bronx zones, because trips take long for their distance. App riders tip 1.1% of the fare, about $0.21 a trip, also near the bottom. Remember that engaged hours exclude waiting and driving to pickups, so real hourly earnings are lower. To see how TLC's minimum pay rules work, try the pay estimator.

The median yellow trip is 5.1 miles and $27.06. Only 0.9% of app pickups went to an airport.
