In short: The Bronx has 43 taxi zones, and from September 2025 to August 2026 they had 33,788,856 pickups in TLC trip records. 98.9% were Uber and Lyft trips, 1.1% yellow taxis and fewer than 0.1% green cabs. The busiest zone was Mott Haven/Port Morris (1,723,422 pickups), followed by West Concourse and East Concourse/Concourse Village. Demand is spread out: 35 of the 43 zones had at least 500,000 pickups in the year.
All numbers come from TLC Help's dataset trips-zone-index, built from TLC's trip record files, unless another source is linked.

Rikers Island (zone 199, 111 pickups in the year) is left out of the table. Sort by "App median pay per trip" to see where trips run longer, or by "Drop-offs" to see where riders go.
Top and bottom zones, and what explains them
The top of the list is the South Bronx and the Concourse. Mott Haven/Port Morris, West Concourse, East Concourse/Concourse Village, Melrose South and Mount Hope are all in the top 10. The top five zones together had 20.9% of the borough's pickups, so no single area dominates.
The bottom of the list is parks and islands. After Rikers Island, the zones with the fewest pickups are Crotona Park (31,136), City Island (55,780), Pelham Bay Park (66,829), Country Club (93,349), Bronx Park (107,462) and Van Cortlandt Park (190,778). Five of the six are parks, and City Island is a small island.
Some zones send many riders out of the city. For six Bronx zones, the most common destination in TLC records is "Outside NYC" (zone 265): Van Cortlandt Park (31.5% of its pickups), Woodlawn/Wakefield (25.5%), Eastchester (14.5%), City Island (12.9%), Norwood (10.1%) and Bronxdale (6.6%). The records don't say where outside the city those trips ended. A taxi or green cab driver may not refuse a passenger going to Westchester or Nassau County (TLC rule §80-20(a)(1), chapter 80). The morning commute shapes the borough. In 32 of the 42 zones with enough trips, the busiest pickup hour (by average pickups per day) is 8am on weekdays. Only a handful peak on weekend evenings, such as West Concourse and Co-Op City (both Saturday 6pm).
Pay per trip follows trip length. Median app driver pay per trip ranges from $11.29 in Eastchester to $24.98 on City Island; the middle Bronx zone is $13.52. Zones with longer typical trips, like City Island and Riverdale/North Riverdale/Fieldston (median fare $19.53), show higher pay per trip. Pay per engaged hour sits in a narrower band, $58.02 to $73.03 per hour with a passenger on board.
More drop-offs than pickups in 8 Bronx zones. Hunts Point is the clearest: 917,811 drop-offs against 811,815 pickups.
Where Bronx trips go
TLC Help's borough-to-borough count for the same 12 months shows 73.8% of Bronx pickups end in the Bronx and 15.7% end in Manhattan. Bronx app pickups were up 10.0% in January–August 2026 against the same months of 2025 in TLC's Open Data counts (c5iv-bn4s). Details: borough-to-borough trip flows and Uber/Lyft trips by borough.
Data caveats
- Period: pickups that started between September 1, 2025 and August 31, 2026, the latest 12 months TLC had published on October 12, 2026. TLC publishes trip files about two months after each month ends and may revise them.
- Who is counted: yellow taxis, green cabs and high-volume FHVs (Uber, Lyft). Bronx livery and black car trips that don't go through Uber or Lyft are not included, so the borough's total for-hire activity is higher than shown.
- Suppressed cells: medians need at least 250 trips, and zone counts of 1–9 are hidden.
- Pay: "app median pay per trip" is TLC's driver_pay field, net of commission and excluding tips and tolls. "Pay per engaged hour" counts only time with a passenger, so it is not hourly earnings and not TLC's minimum-pay formula.
What the data can't tell you
- How long drivers waited between trips in each zone.
- Exact street corners, or where pickups are allowed.
- Why a zone is busy. We only note facts the data and map show (parks, islands, destinations).
