Inwood (TLC zone 127) is a weekend-night zone. Its busiest hour of the whole week is 4 a.m. on Sunday, and almost a third of Sunday pickups start between midnight and 5 a.m. Across the 12 months to August 2026 it had 995,183 pickups (about 2,727 a day), and 98% were Uber or Lyft trips. On weekdays it has a normal morning rush that peaks at 8 a.m.

The data is TLC's trip records for yellow taxis, green cabs and high-volume app trips, aggregated by TLC Help. Black car and livery trips not dispatched by an app company are not included.

Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Medians/rates need ≥250 trips (else null). labels are LocationIDs as strings; zones[] has names, boroughs, service_zone (from taxi_zone_lookup.csv), suggested slugs and neighbouring zone ids (shared boundary, from taxi_zones.zip).

Inwood at a glance

Inwood sits near the northern tip of Manhattan. On TLC's zone map it borders Inwood Hill Park (128), Washington Heights North (243) and Highbridge Park (120). Dyckman Street is its border with Washington Heights North. The city's street file puts part of the University Heights Bridge approach in this zone. TLC labels the zone "Boro Zone"; that is a data category, not a legal boundary.

A relief stand lets you park and leave the car for up to one hour; a taxi stand is for waiting in the car for passengers (NYC DOT). For-hire drivers may not pick up at a taxi stand (80-19(d)(2)). Because Inwood is in the Hail Zone, green cabs may take hails and may use taxi stands here (Chapter 80, §80-19(d)(1)). App drivers still need a pre-arranged trip (80-19(c)(1)).
