Kingsbridge Heights (TLC zone 136) is a mid-sized west Bronx zone on the Harlem River, across from Manhattan. About 1,827 trips a day start here (666,853 from September 2025 to August 2026), and Inwood is the second most common destination. The zone has a small DOT relief stand on West Kingsbridge Road, and its busiest weekend hours are late at night.
Trip counts below are from TLC's yellow, green and Uber/Lyft trip files; the relief-stand details are from DOT open data. Direct car-service bookings are not counted.
Zone 136 at a glance
TLC lists the zone in the Bronx with the "Boro Zone" label, which is a data label only. It has six neighbours on TLC's map: Van Cortlandt Village, Spuyten Duyvil/Kingsbridge, Bedford Park, Fordham South, University Heights/Morris Heights and, across the borough line, Marble Hill in Manhattan.
The West Kingsbridge Road relief stand
DOT's relief-stand dataset lists a stand on the south side of West Kingsbridge Road between Sedgwick Avenue and Webb Avenue, with 2 spaces for taxis and FHVs and a "1 HOUR LIMIT" sign, with no extra hours shown. A current DOT sign record matches it. On the map it sits on the line between this zone and Van Cortlandt Village.
A relief stand is a place to park and leave the car for up to an hour, not a place to wait for riders (NYC DOT). Because it sits on the zone line (about 35 feet from Van Cortlandt Village on TLC's map), it serves both zones. Follow the posted limit (80-19(d)(7)). Uber and Lyft drivers may use spots marked TAXI/FHV: see can app drivers use relief stands?
Where trips go: Bronx and Inwood
Trips are spread thin. Only 4.7% stay inside the zone, and the top destination, Van Cortlandt Village, takes just 6.0%. Inwood is second at 5.6%, ahead of Bedford Park (5.3%), "Outside NYC" (5.1%, TLC zone 265) and University Heights/Morris Heights (4.9%). Inwood is also the third-largest source of trips into the zone (4.9% of drop-offs), and Washington Heights North supplies another 2.7%.
When rides start
Weekdays peak at 8 a.m. (about 145 pickups). Saturday is the busiest day (about 1,931 pickups against 1,830 on a weekday), and its top hour is 11 p.m. (about 113). On Sunday the top hour is midnight (about 98), and 18.6% of Sunday pickups start between midnight and 5 a.m. Drop-offs run later still: on Sundays 22.8% arrive in those hours.
September 2025 was the quietest month (50,217 pickups) and March 2026 the busiest (61,247).
Fares and pay
The median app trip is 2.55 miles and 14.1 minutes, with a $15.55 fare and $13.73 driver pay (tips and tolls not included), close to the Bronx middle. Pay per engaged hour is $61.49; it counts only time with a rider in the car. App riders tipped 1.6% of the fare, and 3.5% of app pickups paid the Congestion Relief Zone fee.
Yellow cabs made 6,750 pickups, about 18 a day, with a median trip of 6.8 miles and $31.13 on the meter. The green cab row shows a $3 median fare beside a 6.99-mile median trip, which looks like a recording quirk.
Pickup rules
Kingsbridge Heights is in TLC's Hail Zone (Chapter 51), and so is Marble Hill next door, because it lies north of West 110th Street. Yellow and green cabs may take hails in both. FHV drivers may only take booked trips (80-19(c)(1)). We found no current taxi-stand sign records in this zone (checked 2026-10-12). More on the lines between license types: who can pick up where.

Data on this page
Aggregates of public data. They describe trips and vehicles, never individual people.
Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Monthly cells with 1–9 trips are shown as blank (null). Pairs with fewer than 10 trips are not listed.
