Where trips go: mostly next door
The top two destinations tie at 10.8% each: trips that stay inside zone 243, and trips to Washington Heights South. Inwood is third (6.3%), and 4.7% of trips leave the city. The rest of the top ten are small shares spread across Harlem, Hamilton Heights and nearby Bronx zones. Only 10.2% of app pickups were charged the Congestion Relief Zone fee, and 3.1% went to an airport.
Fares, tips and pay
The median app trip is 3.56 miles, 15.3 minutes and $17.86 before tips, tolls and fees. Median app driver pay is $15.65, above the $14.98 median for Manhattan's "Boro Zone" zones; the average app tip is $0.97. Yellow taxis are 3.5% of pickups, but their trips are long: a median of 7.14 miles and $28.50 on the meter, the 4th-highest median yellow fare of any Manhattan zone. A third of those yellow pickups (33.0%) were charged the congestion fee, so they were heading downtown.
Relief stands and stand signs
Relief stands allow up to one hour parked away from the car; taxi stands are for waiting in the driver's seat for riders (NYC DOT). The zone is in the Hail Zone, north of Manhattan's Hail Exclusionary Zone (south of East 96th and West 110th Streets, per Chapter 51). That means green cabs may take hails and use taxi stands here. For-hire drivers may not pick up at a taxi stand (80-19(d)(2)) or accept a street hail (80-19(c)(1)). See taxi stand rules.

Data on this page
Aggregates of public data. They describe trips and vehicles, never individual people.
Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Monthly cells with 1–9 trips are shown as blank (null). Pairs with fewer than 10 trips are not listed.
