Ozone Park, TLC taxi zone 180, produces some of the shortest app trips in Queens. About 1,273 rides a day start here, 464,681 from September 2025 to August 2026, 43rd of Queens' 69 zones. The median app trip is just 2.25 miles, and median driver pay of $11.04 is the second lowest in Queens. The most common destinations are close by: South Ozone Park, Woodhaven and Howard Beach next door, and East New York just over the line in Brooklyn.
Ozone Park at a glance (zone 180)
Zone 180 carries TLC's "Boro Zone" label, which sorts trip records and has no legal meaning. It touches Cypress Hills in Brooklyn and four Queens zones: Woodhaven, Richmond Hill, South Ozone Park and Howard Beach. 414,177 trips ended here, about 50,000 fewer than started.
When rides start here
Ozone Park has two equal peaks: 8 a.m. on weekdays and 6 p.m. on Saturday, each about 84 pickups. Saturday is the busiest day, about 1,461 pickups, against 1,250 on a weekday and 1,202 on Sunday. Sunday's top hour is midnight, and 18.3% of Sunday pickups start between midnight and 5 a.m. Weekday drop-offs peak early, at 7 a.m.
One zone over
The top destination is South Ozone Park (15%), ahead of Woodhaven (8.7%), trips that stay in Ozone Park (8.1%), Howard Beach (8.1%) and Richmond Hill (7.3%). Brooklyn's East New York (7.1%) and Cypress Hills (4.2%) together take 11.3%. JFK takes 5.2%, and 5.6% of app pickups went to an airport, 18th in Queens. Trips that end here come from the same zones in about the same order: South Ozone Park sends 15.8% of drop-offs, Woodhaven 10.9%, Ozone Park itself 9.1% and Howard Beach 7.3%. Only 1.9% of app pickups paid the Congestion Relief Zone charge, so a ride from here into Manhattan's toll zone is the exception, not the rule.
Sectors and pay
Apps handled 459,522 pickups (98.9%); yellow taxis made 5,078 and green cabs just 81. The median app fare was $13.60 (67th in Queens) and driver pay $11.04 before tips. Only Saint Michaels Cemetery/Woodside ($9.01) is lower in Queens; next door, South Ozone Park ($11.41) and nearby South Jamaica ($11.12) are close behind. See Queens zones ranked for the full list. Pay per engaged hour was $60.70; it excludes time waiting for requests. On short trips like these, the time you spend driving to each pickup may be a bigger part of your day, so the gap between engaged-hour pay and real hourly pay can be wider. App riders tipped 2.3% ($0.43 on average).
Yellow taxis did 5 miles and $27.05 at the median, and 6% of yellow pickups went to an airport. Yellow pickups were 397–601 a month until May 2026 and 205–294 a month from June to August. Green cab months are mostly blank in the monthly data, because counts of 1–9 are hidden.
Pickup rules
All of Ozone Park is in TLC's Hail Zone (Chapter 51), the same as Cypress Hills across the borough line, so a cab may take a hail on either side. App and other FHV drivers may carry only riders booked through a licensed base (80-19(c)(1)). DOT's relief-stand and parking-sign records had no stand in zone 180 when checked on 2026-10-12. Data on this page
Aggregates of public data. They describe trips and vehicles, never individual people.
Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Monthly cells with 1–9 trips are shown as blank (null). Pairs with fewer than 10 trips are not listed.
