Queens Village at a glance
On TLC's map, zone 191 has seven neighbors: Bellerose (19), Cambria Heights (38), Fresh Meadows (98), Hollis (122), Jamaica Estates (131), Oakland Gardens (175) and Saint Albans (205). TLC's lookup table calls it "Boro Zone", a label for sorting data.
The 8 a.m. spike
Weekday pickups jump to about 206 at 8 a.m., about 30% more than any other weekday hour. 27.9% of weekday pickups happen from 6 to 10 a.m. The afternoon is flatter, and only 6.3% of weekday pickups happen between midnight and 5 a.m.
Saturdays are about as busy as weekdays overall (2,283 pickups against 2,232) but spread out, with similar highs at 9 a.m. and 6 to 7 p.m. (about 122 to 124). Sundays peak at 2 p.m. (about 108). Weekday drop-offs peak in the late afternoon, at 5 p.m. (about 123).
Month by month
Pickups ranged from 59,139 in September 2025 to 73,302 in March 2026. Yellow taxi pickups ran 836 to 1,258 a month until May 2026, then fell to 319 to 415 a month in June to August.
Where trips go
19.1% of pickups end inside Queens Village, the zone's top destination. Next is outside NYC (15.2%), then Jamaica (7.5%), Saint Albans (5.7%), Jamaica Estates (3.7%), Cambria Heights and Hollis (3.5% each) and Bellerose (3.3%). JFK takes 2.6%. Arrivals are even more local: 23.2% of drop-offs start inside the zone, and 9.5% come from Jamaica. No "outside NYC" row appears among the top origins. The gap of 143,231 more pickups than drop-offs is the 3rd-largest in Queens outside the airports, after Jackson Heights and East Elmhurst.
For taxis and green cabs: a passenger heading to Nassau or Westchester may not be refused without a justifiable reason (80-20(a)(1)), and the meter rate past the city line is set out in out-of-city taxi fares.
Fares, pay and tips
The median app trip is 3.30 miles in 13.5 minutes, with a $16.88 fare and $14.09 driver pay, right at the Queens middle. Trips move fairly fast, so pay per engaged hour is $66.83 (16th of 67). It counts only passenger time, so it is higher than real hourly pay. Tips are low: app riders tipped 2.0% of the fare (about $0.43 a trip), 57th of 67.
Yellow taxis made 10,408 pickups. Their trips are long, a median 10.83 miles and $39.50, and card tips on them were only 0.4% of the fare.
Pickup rules
Queens Village is in TLC's Hail Zone (Chapter 51): yellow and green cabs may take street hails. App drivers may only pick up base-dispatched trips (80-19(c)(1)). DOT lists no relief stand in the zone; the nearest in its data are more than 7 miles away in Jackson Heights (taxi only) and Woodside (taxi/FHV).

Aggregates of public data. They describe trips and vehicles, never individual people.
Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Monthly cells with 1–9 trips are shown as blank (null). Pairs with fewer than 10 trips are not listed.
