Saint Albans, TLC taxi zone 205, is a busy zone with mostly short, local trips. Between September 2025 and August 2026, 1,116,521 trips began here, around 3,059 a day and 16th of Queens' 69 zones. About one trip in six (17.5%) never leaves the zone, and the next most common stop is Jamaica. Weekdays peak at 8 a.m., but weekends peak at 2 p.m., not late at night.
Saint Albans at a glance (zone 205)
TLC's lookup table gives zone 205 the label "Boro Zone", used only to sort trip records. It is not a legal boundary. Saint Albans touches eight zones: Jamaica, Hollis, Queens Village, Cambria Heights, Laurelton, Springfield Gardens North, Baisley Park and South Jamaica. Fewer trips end here (984,075) than start here.
Weekday mornings, weekend afternoons
The weekday pattern is a commuter one: about 254 pickups at 8 a.m., with 21.2% of weekday pickups between 7 and 10 a.m. Weekends are different. Saturday is the busiest day (about 3,272 pickups), and both Saturday and Sunday build to a 2 p.m. peak (about 183 and 163). Late nights are quieter than in Richmond Hill or Ridgewood: Sunday's midnight-to-5 a.m. hours hold 15.1% of its pickups.
Where trips go
After the 17.5% that stay local, the top destinations are Jamaica (12.6%), outside New York City (8.4%), Springfield Gardens North (4.9%), Laurelton (4.7%) and JFK (4.3%). Every top-ten destination inside the city is in Queens. Only 1% of app pickups paid the Congestion Relief Zone charge, 65th of 69 Queens zones, so trips into Manhattan's core are rare.
Rides into Saint Albans follow the same map. Of the 984,075 trips that ended here, 19.8% started inside the zone, 12.2% in Jamaica, 6.2% in Springfield Gardens North and 5.1% in Laurelton. On weekdays those arrivals peak at 5 p.m., the mirror of the 8 a.m. pickup rush.
Sectors, pay, and the yellow drop
App pay per ride is modest here. App services made 1,102,458 pickups (98.7%; yellow 13,536, green 527), and the median one was 2.57 miles and 13 minutes long, paying the driver $12.40 before tips (57th in Queens) on a $15.20 fare. App riders tipped 1.7% ($0.34 on average), among the lowest in Queens.
Yellow trips from Saint Albans are long: a median of 10.56 miles and 41.7 minutes, $39.36 on the meter. Card tips on those trips were almost nil (0.1% of the fare). Yellow pickups were steady at 1,266–1,494 a month until May 2026, then fell to 353, 392 and 345 in June, July and August. Drop-offs by yellow cabs fell less. The data cannot tell us why. June 2026 is also the month TLC added a new field to yellow trip files, so a recording change is possible; check later TLC releases before drawing conclusions.
Rules for pickups
The zone is in TLC's Hail Zone (Chapter 51), so a rider can hail a yellow or green cab here. Any other for-hire driver, app drivers included, can only carry riders dispatched by a licensed base (80-19(c)(1)). We found no relief stand and no taxi-stand sign inside zone 205 in DOT's data on 2026-10-12. See who can pick up where.

Aggregates of public data. They describe trips and vehicles, never individual people.
Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Monthly cells with 1–9 trips are shown as blank (null). Pairs with fewer than 10 trips are not listed.
