South Beach/Dongan Hills (taxi zone 214) has about 626 pickups a day, 6th on Staten Island, and among the best pay per app trip on the island: $15.12 at the median. Trips are slow, though: 14.5 minutes at the median, so pay per hour with a rider is below the island's middle. It is also a weekday zone, with fewer weekend trips than almost anywhere else on the island.
Figures are from TLC trip records (yellow taxis, green cabs, Uber and Lyft) for September 2025 to August 2026, counted by TLC Help. Trips by non-app car services are outside this data.
Zone 214 at a glance
South Beach/Dongan Hills has three neighbors on TLC's map: Arrochar/Fort Wadsworth (6), Heartland Village/Todt Hill (118) and New Dorp/Midland Beach (172). TLC's "Boro Zone" label for it is a data category, not a legal zone (zones explained).
A weekday zone
Weekdays bring about 670 pickups a day, against about 575 on a Saturday and 455 on a Sunday. Saturday and Sunday make up only about 23.5% of a typical week's pickups. In most Staten Island zones that share is 26–30%, and only Bloomfield/Emerson Hill (23.3%) is lower. The weekday high is 8 a.m. (about 51 pickups), with a second bump at 2–3 p.m. (about 46–47). Drop-offs peak at 8 a.m. too (about 56). On weekends the busiest hour is around 3 p.m. Sundays also have a small early bump: about 23 pickups at 7 a.m., more than at 8 a.m. (about 18).
Month by month
App pickups ranged from 16,392 in September 2025 to 21,583 in March 2026, then settled at about 18,400–19,700 a month. Yellow taxi pickups also peaked in March 2026 (88).
Where trips go
16.0% of pickups stay in the zone. New Dorp/Midland Beach (8.9%), Arrochar/Fort Wadsworth (8.2%), Stapleton (6.6%) and Heartland Village/Todt Hill (6.4%) follow. All ten top destinations are on Staten Island. 2.0% of app pickups went to an airport and 2.3% were charged the Congestion Relief Zone fee.
Rides into the zone come from the same mix: the zone itself (15.9%), New Dorp/Midland Beach (10.0%), Arrochar/Fort Wadsworth (8.0%) and Stapleton (7.9%).
Fares and pay
The median app trip is 3.49 miles and 14.5 minutes, with a $17.91 fare and $15.12 driver pay. That is good pay per trip for the island, but the trips are slow, so pay per engaged hour is just $66.31, 15th of 19. Engaged hours leave out driving to pickups, so real hourly pay is lower still. Tips are 4.2% of the fare, about $0.99.
Yellow taxis made 483 pickups. Their median trip was 7.46 miles and 21.3 minutes, with a $24.13 metered fare before tolls, tips and surcharges, and 15.3% of them were charged the Congestion Relief Zone fee, against 2.3% of app pickups.

Data on this page
Aggregates of public data. They describe trips and vehicles, never individual people.
Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Monthly cells with 1–9 trips are shown as blank (null). Pairs with fewer than 10 trips are not listed.
