Douglaston (TLC zone 64) is a low-volume zone in northeast Queens, about 503 pickups a day. Its trips are different from most of Queens: 18.6% end outside New York City, JFK is a bigger airport destination than LaGuardia, and the trips are long and quick. That gives app drivers $72.40 per engaged hour, 3rd-highest of the 67 Queens zones outside the airports.
Trip numbers are TLC Help's totals of TLC trip records (yellow, green and Uber/Lyft), September 2025 to August 2026. Trips that end outside the city carry TLC's code 265, "Outside of NYC", with no detail on where they go.
Douglaston at a glance
On TLC's zone map, zone 64 touches four Queens zones: Bayside (16), Bellerose (19), Glen Oaks (101) and Oakland Gardens (175). TLC labels it "Boro Zone", which groups data and is not a legal line (taxi zones explained).
When rides start
Douglaston is a weekday-morning zone. The busiest hour of the week is 8 a.m. on weekdays (about 39 pickups), with 9 a.m. close behind (about 37). Saturdays (about 536 pickups) are only a little busier than weekdays (513), with a late-afternoon peak at 5 p.m. Sundays are quietest (about 420). Nights are slow: 6.8% of the week's pickups start between midnight and 5 a.m.
Drop-offs also peak at 8 a.m., on weekdays and on Saturdays. So weekday mornings bring trips both in and out of the zone: a driver who drops off here at 8 a.m. on a weekday is in the zone's busiest pickup hour.
Month by month
Pickups were steady, from 14,219 in September 2025 to 16,259 in June 2026. Drop-offs ran about 10% lower than pickups all year (166,058 against 183,429).
Where trips go
21.3% stay inside Douglaston and 18.6% leave the city. Together that is four trips in ten. The rest go to nearby Bayside (5.9%), Glen Oaks (4.3%) and Oakland Gardens (3.7%). JFK takes 3.7%, more than LaGuardia (2.6%). In nearby Whitestone and Bay Terrace/Fort Totten it is the other way round. Trips coming in show the same: 4.5% of drop-offs started at JFK.
Fares, pay and tips
The median app trip is 4.28 miles in 13.8 minutes: a $19.34 fare and $15.91 driver pay (11th in Queens). Because trips move fast, pay per engaged hour reaches $72.40. Remember that engaged time is only time with a rider. A zone with few pickups can mean longer waits, which this data does not measure. App riders tipped 5.2% of the fare, an average of $1.38.
Yellow taxis made 1,669 pickups all year; their median trip was 10.07 miles with a $35.50 metered fare. Only 3.4% of app pickups paid the Manhattan congestion fee.

Data on this page
Aggregates of public data. They describe trips and vehicles, never individual people.
Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Monthly cells with 1–9 trips are shown as blank (null). Pairs with fewer than 10 trips are not listed.
