Legal lines
- MTA Congestion Relief Zone: the whole zone is inside it (south of 60th Street). The fee was on 99.6% of app pickups and 98.6% of yellow pickups. As of 2026-10-12 riders pay $1.50 per app trip and $0.75 per taxi trip (Congestion Relief Zone toll).
- Lower Manhattan Regional Slow Zone: NYC DOT set a 20 mph limit for the island south of Canal Street. By our map check against the city's street centerline, only a sliver (about 0.1%) of zone 144 is south of Canal, so nearly all of it is outside the slow zone. Posted signs decide.
- Hail Exclusionary Zone and the 96th Street surcharge area: the whole zone is inside both.
Stands and practical notes
DOT lists one relief stand here (checked 2026-10-12): Crosby Street between Prince Street and East Houston Street, west side, 3 spaces, taxis only, Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The relief-stand sign only covers those hours and only taxis; at other times, follow whatever other signs are posted on that curb. No taxi-stand sign records fall inside zone 144. The East Village to the north has six relief stands, three of them open to FHVs; see the relief stand finder.

Data on this page
Aggregates of public data. They describe trips and vehicles, never individual people.
Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Monthly cells with 1–9 trips are shown as blank (null). Pairs with fewer than 10 trips are not listed.
