Port Richmond (taxi zone 187) is the middle of Staten Island's pack: with 202,021 pickups in a year, about 553 a day, it ranks 10th of the island's 20 zones. Almost every ride is an app trip. What sets it apart is where riders go. Instead of one main destination, trips split almost evenly between Mariners Harbor, St. George and Bloomfield/Emerson Hill.
These figures are TLC trip records for yellow taxis, green cabs, Uber and Lyft, September 2025 to August 2026, added up by TLC Help. Non-app car service trips are not counted.

On TLC's map Port Richmond borders Mariners Harbor (156), Bloomfield/Emerson Hill (23), Westerleigh (251) and Saint George/New Brighton (206). "Boro Zone" is TLC's data label for it, not a legal boundary (NYC taxi zones explained).

Weekday pickups peak at 8 a.m. (about 43) and stay in the mid-30s from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays are flatter and later, building to about 38 at 6 p.m. Sundays peak mid-afternoon (about 29 at 3 p.m.). Drop-offs mirror the pickups: weekdays peak at 8 a.m. with about 37.
Month by month

Where trips go
The top four destinations are Mariners Harbor (15.9%), Saint George/New Brighton (15.2%), Bloomfield/Emerson Hill (13.9%) and Port Richmond itself (12.3%). Westerleigh (7.7%) and West Brighton (5.6%) follow. Places outside New York City (TLC zone 265) take 2.6%; every other top-10 destination is on Staten Island.
Rides into Port Richmond come from the same places: Mariners Harbor sends 19.2% of drop-offs and St. George 15.3%. Together, Mariners Harbor, St. George, Bloomfield/Emerson Hill and Port Richmond itself take 57.3% of the zone's pickups.
Fares and pay
The median app trip from Port Richmond is 2.82 miles and 11.6 minutes, with a $14.36 fare and $12.03 driver pay. That is 13th of the island's 19 zones with more than 1,000 pickups. Tips are low (3.1% of the fare, about $0.61), and few trips reach an airport (1.3%) or the Congestion Relief Zone (1.3% charged the fee). Pay per engaged hour is $67.41; it leaves out the time between rides, so it is not an hourly wage. Compared with St. George next door, trips here are a bit longer and pay about $1.23 more at the median, but riders tip at about the same low rate.
Rules and practical notes
- Uber, Lyft and other FHV drivers may only pick up trips sent through their base (80-19(c)(1)); see who can pick up where.
- Taxi drivers: the records show 80 yellow pickups against 368 drop-offs, so return fares from here are rare. You may take hails on the way, since Staten Island is in TLC's Hail Zone (Chapter 51). If you head back by bridge, the toll calculator shows the cost.
- Breaks: DOT lists no relief stands on Staten Island (vqu8-xef9, checked October 12, 2026). Plan breaks around posted parking signs; the relief stands guide explains how stands work elsewhere in the city.

Data on this page
Aggregates of public data. They describe trips and vehicles, never individual people.
Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Monthly cells with 1–9 trips are shown as blank (null). Pairs with fewer than 10 trips are not listed.
