West Brighton (taxi zone 245) is a mid-sized Staten Island zone with about 582 pickups a day, nearly all by app. Its trips lean toward one place: 27.3% end in Saint George/New Brighton, a bigger share than from any other zone on the island. It also has one of Staten Island's strongest late Saturday nights: Sunday's busiest hour is midnight to 1 a.m.
The figures come from TLC trip records (yellow, green and Uber/Lyft) for September 2025 to August 2026, totaled by TLC Help. They leave out non-app black car and livery trips.
Zone 245 at a glance
West Brighton touches four zones on TLC's map: Saint George/New Brighton (206), Stapleton (221), Grymes Hill/Clifton (115) and Westerleigh (251). Its "Boro Zone" label is a TLC data category, not a pickup rule; see NYC taxi zones explained.
Weekday mornings, Saturday nights
On weekdays the busiest hour is 8 a.m., with about 39 pickups, and the afternoon stays steady at 37–38 an hour from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Weekends look different. Saturday builds through the evening to about 38 an hour at 6–7 p.m., and the late night stays strong: about 33 pickups between midnight and 1 a.m. on Sunday, the busiest hour of the whole Sunday. Saturday drop-offs peak at 11 p.m. (about 40), so riders are coming in late as well as leaving.
Month by month
App pickups ran from a low of 14,921 in September 2025 to a high of 20,120 in March 2026. Taxis barely register: 129 yellow pickups and one green cab pickup all year.
Where trips go
After St. George (27.3%), the top destinations are West Brighton itself (12.6%), Stapleton (7.3%), Westerleigh (7.2%) and Bloomfield/Emerson Hill (6.0%). All ten top destinations are on Staten Island, together 80.8% of pickups. Only 2.2% of app pickups were charged the Congestion Relief Zone fee, and 1.8% went to an airport.
The link with St. George runs both ways. 26.0% of West Brighton's drop-offs started in St. George, and 13.1% started inside West Brighton. Stapleton (8.8%) and Westerleigh (7.9%) come next. So the two zones trade riders in both directions.
Fares and pay
The median app trip is 2.54 miles and 11.3 minutes, with a $14.49 fare and $11.45 driver pay (16th of Staten Island's 19 zones with more than 1,000 pickups). Riders tip a little better than in St. George: 4.5% of the fare, or $0.96 on average. Pay per engaged hour is $66.54, but that counts only time with a passenger, not driving to pickups or waiting.
Picking up in West Brighton
- App and other FHV drivers may only take trips sent by their base, here as anywhere in the city (80-19(c)(1)). On Staten Island a first violation is $200–$350; the higher tier applies only in Manhattan below 96th/110th Street and at the airports (Chapter 80).
- Yellow taxis and green cabs may take street hails: the zone is in TLC's Hail Zone (Chapter 51). More in who can pick up where.
- No relief stands. DOT lists none in West Brighton or anywhere else on Staten Island (vqu8-xef9, checked October 12, 2026). The island's only signed taxi stand is next door, at the St. George ferry terminal.

Data on this page
Aggregates of public data. They describe trips and vehicles, never individual people.
Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Monthly cells with 1–9 trips are shown as blank (null). Pairs with fewer than 10 trips are not listed.
