Stuyvesant Heights at a glance (zone 225)
The TLC zone lookup table files zone 225 under Brooklyn as a "Boro Zone". In the trip data that is only a grouping, not a legal line. The zone has four neighbours on the TLC map: Bedford, Bushwick South, Crown Heights North and Ocean Hill.
When rides start and end here
Weekday pickups have a clear morning start: 15.5% of them begin between 7 and 10 a.m. The weekday peak comes at 6 p.m. (about 306). Saturday has about 7,640 pickups and peaks at 11 p.m. (about 495); Sunday's high point is the midnight hour.
Drop-offs run later in the day. On weekdays they peak at 10 p.m. (about 422), and on Saturday at 11 p.m. (about 597). Pickups peak earlier, at 6 p.m. on weekdays, so the late evening is when arrivals run furthest ahead of departures. Over the whole year, drop-offs outnumber pickups by about 118,000.
Through the year
The busiest month was May 2026, with 181,014 pickups; September 2025 was the slowest, with 152,272. Yellow taxis changed more than apps. Their pickups ran 3,834–4,958 a month through May 2026, then fell to about 3,000 a month in June, July and August. App pickups stayed between about 148,000 and 176,000 a month all year.
Where trips go
Short trips dominate. Crown Heights North takes 9.5% of pickups, 8.4% stay inside the zone, then Bushwick South (7.4%), Bedford (6.6%) and Bushwick North (5.4%). Ridgewood in Queens is 10th at 2.4%. Manhattan is not a big draw: 8.2% of app pickups paid the Congestion Relief Zone charge, and 4.2% went to an airport.
Who serves the zone, and what it pays
App rides made up 1,992,082 pickups (97.5%). Yellow taxis had 50,172 and green cabs 832. Yellow trips are long and slow here: a median of 4.72 miles and 28.6 minutes, for a $28.50 fare. Card-paying yellow riders tipped only 0.5% of the fare (cash tips are not recorded). Taxis also drop off far more riders here (78,303) than they pick up, and 21.0% of yellow pickups paid the Congestion Relief Zone charge, so a yellow ride out of Stuyvesant Heights is more likely than an app ride to be heading into Manhattan below 60th Street.
The median app trip was 2.44 miles and 16.1 minutes, paying $14.62 before tips and tolls. Average app tip: $0.83. App pay per engaged hour was $57.23, 52nd of 61 in Brooklyn. That figure counts only minutes with a rider on board. It leaves out the drive to each pickup and the wait between requests, so your real hourly pay is lower.
Pickup rules and notes
The zone lies in TLC's Hail Zone (Chapter 51), so yellow and green cabs may accept hails. App drivers must not; every for-hire pickup must be pre-arranged through a licensed base (80-19(c)(1)). As of our 2026-10-12 check, DOT lists no relief stand here, and its sign records show no taxi stand in zone 225. For more, see who can pick up where and the Brooklyn rankings.

Data on this page
Aggregates of public data. They describe trips and vehicles, never individual people.
Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Monthly cells with 1–9 trips are shown as blank (null). Pairs with fewer than 10 trips are not listed.
