Bushwick North, TLC taxi zone 36, is an after-midnight zone on the Brooklyn–Queens line. Over the 12 months to August 2026 it logged 2,071,620 pickups, close to 5,676 a day, 9th in Brooklyn. Its busiest hour is 1 a.m. on Sunday, and on an average Sunday 42.4% of pickups come between midnight and 5 a.m. Only the Brooklyn Navy Yard has a higher share.
Many trips cross into Queens: Ridgewood is the zone's 2nd-biggest destination.
Bushwick North at a glance (zone 36)
In TLC's lookup table, zone 36 is Brooklyn, service zone "Boro Zone". The label sorts trip data and has no legal effect. On the TLC map the zone has four neighbours: Bushwick South and East Williamsburg in Brooklyn, and Ridgewood and Forest Park/Highland Park in Queens.
When rides start and end here
Bushwick North runs late. Even on weekdays the top hour is 11 p.m. (about 370 pickups), and 17.2% of weekday pickups start between midnight and 5 a.m. On weekends the peak moves to 1 a.m.: about 724 pickups on Saturday and 832 on Sunday. Saturday overall has about 9,000 pickups, almost twice a weekday (about 4,570).
Arrivals match: drop-offs peak at 11 p.m. on weekdays and Saturdays, so riders are both arriving and leaving late.
One thing to keep in mind when reading the chart: the data files trips by calendar day. So "Saturday 1 a.m." is really the end of Friday night, and "Sunday 1 a.m." is the end of Saturday night. A driver planning a Saturday-night shift here should look at the late Saturday hours and the early Sunday hours together.
Pickups topped out in January 2026 (190,543) and bottomed in September 2025 (152,613).
Where trips go: Bushwick and Queens
The biggest flow is next door: Bushwick South takes 12.7% of pickups, and 7.9% stay inside the zone. Ridgewood takes 8.9% and Maspeth 2.2%, so about one trip in nine goes to a Queens neighbour. Few trips head to Manhattan: only 8.2% of app pickups paid the Congestion Relief Zone charge.

The Palmetto Street taxi stand and pickup rules
DOT's parking-sign records (checked 2026-10-12) show one current taxi-stand sign in this zone.
Several Chapter 80 rules apply around a stand:
- App and other for-hire drivers must not pick up passengers at any taxi stand (80-19(d)(2)). Away from the stand, pickups must still be booked through your base (80-19(c)(1)).
- Yellow and green cabs may take hails in Bushwick, which is all in TLC's Hail Zone, but must not cruise for passengers within 100 feet of an authorized taxi stand (80-19(a)(4)(ii) for taxis, 80-19(b)(2)(ii) for green cabs).
- At the stand, take the rear position and don't overcrowd it (80-19(d)(4)).

Data on this page
Aggregates of public data. They describe trips and vehicles, never individual people.
Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Monthly cells with 1–9 trips are shown as blank (null). Pairs with fewer than 10 trips are not listed.
