Bedford at a glance (zone 17)
TLC's lookup table names this zone "Bedford" (Brooklyn) and gives it the label "Boro Zone", which is a data category with no legal meaning. On the TLC map it borders six zones: Bushwick South, Clinton Hill, Crown Heights North, East Williamsburg, South Williamsburg and Stuyvesant Heights.
When rides start and end here
On an average weekday, Bedford has about 5,220 pickups. They peak at 7 p.m. (about 337), and 12.8% start between 7 and 10 a.m. Saturday is busier (about 7,250) and peaks at 11 p.m. (about 510). On Sunday, the midnight hour leads. Compared with Bushwick or Williamsburg, the weekend jump here is moderate: Saturday has 1.4 times a weekday's pickups.
Drop-offs come later. On weekdays they peak at 10 p.m. (about 410), as riders return home in the evening.
Through the year
Pickups peaked in December 2025 at 189,912 and were lowest in September 2025 at 154,502. Yellow taxis followed a different path. Their pickups were about 3,400–4,400 a month through May, then fell to 3,031 in June, 2,767 in July and 2,874 in August 2026. The data shows the drop but not its cause.
Where trips go
Bedford riders mostly stay close. 9.1% of pickups end inside the zone, 7.7% in Crown Heights North, 6.5% in Stuyvesant Heights and 5.7% in South Williamsburg. Bushwick South takes 5.4%. Only 9.0% of app pickups paid the Congestion Relief Zone charge, so most rides here don't touch Manhattan below 60th Street. Yellow rides are different: 23.1% of yellow pickups paid it. Airports are a small part of the work too. 3.9% of app pickups went to JFK, LaGuardia or Newark, and no airport makes the top ten.
The South Williamsburg link runs both ways. South Williamsburg sends nearly a quarter of its pickups (23.2%) to Bedford, and it is the source of 4.7% of Bedford's drop-offs.
Who serves the zone, and what it pays
App services handled 2,029,261 pickups (97.8%); yellow taxis 44,331; green cabs 680. Yellow taxis dropped off 76,237 riders, about 1.7 times their pickups. Yellow trips from Bedford had a median of 4.33 miles, 25.1 minutes and a $26.50 fare. Card-paying yellow riders tipped 1.2% of the fare.
App trips are short and pay a bit under the Brooklyn middle: $13.62 median driver pay, before tips and tolls, on a $16.21 median fare. Pay per engaged hour was $57.48, 50th of 61 in Brooklyn; it counts only time with a rider.

Data on this page
Aggregates of public data. They describe trips and vehicles, never individual people.
Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Monthly cells with 1–9 trips are shown as blank (null). Pairs with fewer than 10 trips are not listed.
