West Farms/Bronx River (TLC zone 248) is a mid-sized Bronx zone with a morning rush, trips spread over many nearby zones, and a taxi-only relief stand. In the 12 months to August 2026, 659,587 trips started here (about 1,807 a day), 29th of 43 Bronx zones. Fewer trips end here than start here. App trips from here cover more distance in less time than in most nearby zones.
Of the 659,587 pickups, 651,507 were app trips, 7,967 yellow taxi trips and 113 green cab trips. TLC Help added these up from TLC trip records; livery and black car rides not dispatched by Uber or Lyft are not in them.

When rides start and end
Weekday mornings lead. The 8 a.m. hour averages about 148 pickups, and 26.7% of weekday pickups start between 6 and 10 a.m., one of the higher shares in the Bronx. Weekday drop-offs come back in the evening, at about 100 an hour from 5 to 7 p.m.
On Saturday, pickups rise through the evening to about 115 at 7 to 8 p.m., and drop-offs are highest from 8 to 10 p.m. (about 125 an hour). Sunday nights are busy for arrivals: 23% of Sunday drop-offs happen between midnight and 5 a.m.
Month by month
Pickups were lowest in September 2025 (46,266) and highest in March 2026 (61,914). They were steady at about 54,000 to 55,000 a month from June to August 2026. Yellow pickups halved at the start of that summer, from 748 in May to 350 in June.
Where trips go
Trips spread over many nearby zones. Soundview/Castle Hill is the top destination (7.0%), then trips inside the zone (4.7%), East Tremont and Soundview/Bruckner (4.5% each), Van Nest/Morris Park (4.4%) and Hunts Point (3.9%). The top ten hold only 41.1% of pickups.
Fares and pay
The median app trip covers 3.21 miles in 12.9 minutes: further than a typical trip from Mount Hope or East Tremont, but quicker. The median fare is $15.20 and median driver pay $13.36, close to the Bronx middle ($13.50). Pay per engaged hour is $63.05, slightly above the Bronx middle; it counts only time with a passenger, so it is not what drivers earn per hour.
Yellow trips are longer (median 6.61 miles, $29.50), and 9.4% of yellow pickups paid the MTA Congestion Relief Zone fee, against 3.2% of app pickups.
The relief stand and pickup rules
NYC DOT's dataset (checked October 2026) lists one relief stand here: Bronx River Avenue, south side, Rosedale Avenue to East Tremont Avenue, 2 spaces, taxi only, 1 hour limit. Its sign order was completed in December 2024. Taxi-only means FHVs, including Uber and Lyft cars, may not use it (80-19(d)(7): drivers must follow posted vehicle types and time limits). App drivers can use the 2-space taxi/FHV stand on Metropolitan Avenue in Parkchester, about 0.4 miles from this zone's edge, or the 6-space stand on Southern Boulevard in East Tremont. See relief stand rules.
West Farms is in TLC's Hail Zone (Chapter 51), so yellow and green cabs may take street hails. App drivers must take only base-dispatched trips (80-19(c)(1)).

Data on this page
Aggregates of public data. They describe trips and vehicles, never individual people.
Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Monthly cells with 1–9 trips are shown as blank (null). Pairs with fewer than 10 trips are not listed.
