Van Nest/Morris Park (TLC zone 242) is the most weekday-centred zone in the Bronx. About 2,855 trips a day start here and almost the same number end here (1,042,175 and 1,041,681 from September 2025 to August 2026). On weekdays about 332 trips arrive between 8 and 9 a.m., the zone's busiest hour, and most departures come in the afternoon, from 3 to 5 p.m. Weekends are much quieter than in any other Bronx zone.
We totalled TLC's yellow, green and Uber/Lyft trip records for zone 242. Livery and black car trips booked directly with a base are in a separate TLC file without fares, and are not counted here.
Zone 242 at a glance
TLC lists the zone in the Bronx with the "Boro Zone" data label, which is not a legal line. It touches 11 zones on TLC's map, more than any other Bronx zone: Allerton/Pelham Gardens, Bronx Park, Crotona Park East, East Tremont, Parkchester, Pelham Bay, Pelham Bay Park, Pelham Parkway, Schuylerville/Edgewater Park, West Farms/Bronx River and Westchester Village/Unionport.
Morning in, afternoon out
The hourly charts show a clear shape. Arrivals peak in the morning: about 332 drop-offs between 8 and 9 a.m. on weekdays, 264 between 9 and 10 a.m. and 222 between 7 and 8 a.m.
Departures peak in the afternoon: on weekdays the top pickup hours are 4 p.m. (about 210), 3 p.m. (205) and 5 p.m. (204). In 9 of its 11 neighbouring zones, the top weekday pickup hour is 8 a.m. This pattern fits a place many people travel to for the day, but the trip data does not say who the riders are.
Quiet weekends
A weekday averages 3,068 pickups, a Saturday 2,511 and a Sunday 2,129. Relative to weekdays, both Saturday (82%) and Sunday (69%) are the lowest of all 42 Bronx zones with data. Saturday's top hour is 3 p.m. (about 146), and on Sunday it is midnight (about 124).
September 2025 was the quietest month (75,343 pickups) and March 2026 the busiest (96,512). Winter was strong: December 2025 and January 2026 each had more than 92,000.

Rules and stands
- Hails: the zone is in TLC's Hail Zone (Chapter 51). Yellow and green cabs may accept hails; FHV drivers may only take booked trips (80-19(c)(1)).
- Relief stands: DOT lists none inside zone 242 (checked 2026-10-12). A taxi-only relief stand on Bronx River Avenue between Rosedale Avenue and East Tremont Avenue (2 spaces) maps about 110 feet outside the zone, in West Farms/Bronx River. Because it is signed for taxis only, FHVs may not use it (80-19(d)(7), Chapter 80). Neighbouring Pelham Parkway and Parkchester have taxi/FHV stands.
- Taxi stands: we found no current taxi-stand sign records in the zone.
We do not name venues or pickup spots in the zone because we found no official source for pickup rules there. See who can pick up where and relief stands.

Data on this page
Aggregates of public data. They describe trips and vehicles, never individual people.
Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Monthly cells with 1–9 trips are shown as blank (null). Pairs with fewer than 10 trips are not listed.
