Old taxicab driver rules (yellow cab drivers)

Old Chapter 2 of the TLC rules covered drivers of yellow medallion taxicabs: licensing, safe driving, fares and overcharges, refusals, courtesy, solicitation, trip records and drug testing. It was repealed on April 1, 2011. Its rules moved to Chapter 54 (taxicab drivers), which was itself folded into Chapter 80 (all TLC drivers) on October 26, 2016. The TLC's 2011 'Guide to New TLC Rules' maps old 2-xx sections to 54-xx sections.

Trip sheet: end-of-shift meter readings missing

Old Rule 2-28(a)(3) required a yellow-taxi driver to write on the trip sheet, legibly in ink, the taximeter readings at the end of the shift (the 2010 text also adds the time the shift ended). Leaving out or botching this entry was a violation, fined per missing entry. By 2010 paper trip sheets were needed only when the taxi technology system was not yet required or was broken.
