East Williamsburg, TLC taxi zone 80, is one of Brooklyn's strongest late-night zones. In the 12 months to August 2026, 2,037,188 rides started here (about 5,581 a day, 12th in Brooklyn). On an average Sunday, 41.6% of pickups start between midnight and 5 a.m. Only the Brooklyn Navy Yard and Bushwick North have a higher overnight share.
It is also a crossroads. The zone touches nine others, including two in Queens, and its riders spread out in every direction. No single destination takes more than 7% of trips.
East Williamsburg at a glance (zone 80)
TLC's lookup table files zone 80 under Brooklyn with the service-zone label "Boro Zone", a trip-data category rather than a legal line. Its neighbours on the TLC map are Bedford, Bushwick North, Bushwick South, Greenpoint, South Williamsburg, Williamsburg (North Side) and Williamsburg (South Side), plus Maspeth and Ridgewood in Queens.
When rides start and end here
A weekday here is modest: about 4,380 pickups, rising through the evening to a 10 p.m. peak of about 338. Saturday has about 9,330 pickups, 2.1 times a weekday, the second-biggest weekend jump of any Brooklyn zone. On Saturday the busiest hour is not evening but midnight (about 736 pickups, the tail of Friday night). Sunday at midnight is the busiest hour of the whole week, at about 817.
Mornings are thin. On Saturday and Sunday the quietest hour is 7 a.m., when pickups fall to about 130.
Monthly totals stayed between 158,058 (September 2025) and 181,496 (January 2026). Green-cab pickups are tiny but rose in summer 2026: 188 in June, 271 in July and 259 in August, against 68–104 a month from December to February.
Where trips from here go
East Williamsburg's riders scatter. The top destination, Bushwick South, takes only 6.9% of pickups. Williamsburg (North Side) takes 6.8%, Greenpoint 6.7%, and 6.1% stay inside the zone. Ridgewood in Queens takes 2.9%. Arrivals mirror this: Williamsburg (North Side) sends 7.1% of drop-offs, and LaGuardia sends 2.4%.
Who serves this zone, and what trips pay
Uber and Lyft account for 1,972,178 of the pickups. Yellow cabs add 63,306 (3.1%) and green cabs 1,704. App trips are short: a median of 2.94 miles and 16.1 minutes, with median driver pay of $15.84 before tips and tolls. Yellow trips go further, a median 4.62 miles for a $27.18 metered fare, and 34.2% of yellow pickups paid the Congestion Relief Zone charge. So about a third of yellow rides from here went into or through Manhattan below 60th Street.
Pay per engaged hour ($60.92) counts only time with a passenger, so it overstates hourly earnings.
Pickup rules and practical notes
All of zone 80 is in TLC's Hail Zone (Chapter 51), so yellow and green cabs can accept hails. If you drive for an app, every pickup must come through your base (80-19(c)(1)), and that rule also applies when a rider waves you down at 2 a.m. The zone is far from the Manhattan lines; the CRZ charge shows up only on trips into or through Manhattan south of 60th Street.
DOT's relief-stand list and current parking-sign records, checked 2026-10-12, show no relief stand or taxi-stand sign inside zone 80. The nearest listed relief stand is on North 6th Street in Williamsburg (North Side). Compare the zone with its neighbours in the Brooklyn rankings.

Aggregates of public data. They describe trips and vehicles, never individual people.
Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Monthly cells with 1–9 trips are shown as blank (null). Pairs with fewer than 10 trips are not listed.
