Borough Park (TLC zone 26) is a short-trip zone with its own weekly rhythm. In the 12 months to August 2026, 1,305,774 trips started here, about 3,578 a day, and 99.2% were app trips. 39.1% of them ended inside Borough Park, the highest share of any Brooklyn zone. Weekdays and Sundays are busy; Saturday has less than half a weekday's pickups.

The figures are TLC trip records (yellow, green and high-volume app trips, September 2025 to August 2026), added up by TLC Help. Black car and livery trips that are not high-volume are not included.

'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Month by month

The seasons swing hard. January 2026 was the top month (135,367 pickups), and December through March all passed 125,000. July 2026 was the low (82,489), and October 2025 and April 2026 also dipped near 92,000–93,000. Peak to low is a 64% gap, one of the ten widest in Brooklyn.

Yellow pickups ran at about 760 to 1,370 a month until May, then fell to 214–312 a month from June to August 2026. App trips did not fall the same way. The trip records do not explain the change.

Fares, trip length and driver pay

Short trips mean small fares. The median app trip is 1.56 miles and 12.3 minutes, with a $13.43 fare and $10.61 driver pay before tips and tolls. Pay per engaged hour is $55.74, the lowest in Brooklyn. That figure counts only time with a passenger, not driving to pickups or waiting, so it is not what a driver earns per hour. Tips are small too: 2.2% of the fare, $0.42 on average.

Long trips are rare. Only 0.9% of app pickups go to an airport and 2.4% are charged the Manhattan toll-zone fee, both below the Brooklyn zone medians (2.6% and 5.9%). Yellow trips have a $23.50 median fare over 3.6 miles.

Pickup rules and stands

Borough Park is in TLC's Hail Zone: yellow and green cabs may accept street hails here. App drivers must take only base-dispatched riders (80-19(c)(1)). For the citywide picture, see who can pick up where. For trips into Manhattan at or below 60th Street, the rider pays a Congestion Relief Zone charge of $1.50 per app trip or $0.75 per taxi trip, as of 2026-10-12 (MTA). This is general information, not legal advice.

DOT's open data shows no relief stand and no taxi-stand sign inside zone 26 (checked October 12, 2026; vqu8-xef9, nfid-uabd). Two signed taxi stands sit a few blocks outside it: one on Bay Parkway between West 7th and West 8th Streets, on the line between Bensonhurst East and Bensonhurst West, and one on Avenue P between East 2nd Street and McDonald Avenue, in Ocean Parkway South. See taxi relief stands for break spots.
