Source: NYC TLC Trip Record Data (yellow, green, high-volume FHV), Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 · Data as of Oct 12, 2026. Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Medians/rates need ≥250 trips (else null). labels are LocationIDs as strings; zones[] has names, boroughs, service_zone (from taxi_zone_lookup.csv), suggested slugs and neighbouring zone ids (shared boundary, from taxi_zones.zip).

The zone at a glance (zone 27)

TLC's lookup table calls zone 27 a Queens "Boro Zone", a label used for trip data and not a legal line. On the TLC map its only land neighbour is Rockaway Park to the east. Many more trips end here (30,009) than start here: for every 100 drop-offs there are only 67 pickups, the 2nd-lowest ratio in Queens after Flushing Meadows-Corona Park.

Sectors and pay

Beachgoers mostly ride apps: 19,891 pickups (98.7%), against 266 for yellow taxis; green cab cells are zero or hidden. The median app trip was 7.26 miles and 20.7 minutes, more than twice the median in the other Rockaway zones, with a $32.13 fare and $26.50 driver pay before tips. Pay per engaged hour was $75.05, 3rd in Queens, but it does not count the drive out to the beach or waiting for a ride. Yellow medians are blank because there were too few clean yellow trips.

Tolls and pickup rules

The Marine Parkway–Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge links Brooklyn to the west end of the Rockaway Peninsula; five Brooklyn zones are in this zone's top ten destinations. Under TLC rules (§58-26(f)(1), §59A-23(b)(1)), a taxi or FHV trip from Brooklyn over that bridge to the peninsula costs the passenger two times the toll, and a trip back to Brooklyn over it costs the passenger nothing. Rates: Marine Parkway Bridge.

The zone is in the Hail Zone (Chapter 51); app and other FHV drivers may only pick up riders booked through a licensed base (80-19(c)(1)). DOT data showed no relief stand in zone 27; the nearest is in Hammels/Arverne, about 2.6 miles away (checked 2026-10-12).
