Co-op City (TLC zone 51) is a big north-east Bronx zone whose busiest time is Saturday evening, not the weekday rush. About 2,924 trips a day start here (1,067,096 from September 2025 to August 2026). App trips are longer than in most of the Bronx, so the median driver pay per trip is $15.34, third-highest in the borough. Unusually, the busiest month was December 2025, not spring.
We used TLC's trip records for yellow, green and Uber/Lyft trips. Co-op City trips booked directly with a local car service base are not in that data.
Co-op City at a glance
TLC lists zone 51 in the Bronx with the data label "Boro Zone", which is not a legal boundary. The zone has three neighbours on TLC's map: Eastchester, Allerton/Pelham Gardens and Pelham Bay Park. By pickups it is 12th of the Bronx's 43 zones.
Saturday is the big day
An average Saturday has about 3,431 pickups, roughly 20% more than a weekday (2,858) and well above Sunday (2,746). Saturday demand builds through the day and peaks at 6–8 p.m., with about 230–238 pickups an hour. Weekdays have two smaller peaks, 8 a.m. (184) and 5–6 p.m. (about 176). Late nights are quiet: only 5.1% of weekday pickups start between midnight and 5 a.m.
Arrivals peak earlier on Saturdays, at 3 p.m. (about 237 drop-offs).
December was the top month
Most north Bronx zones peaked in March 2026. Co-op City peaked in December 2025 with 100,937 pickups, then March 2026 (97,157). September 2025 was the low point (73,991). The data does not explain the December peak.
Yellow pickups here ranged from 1,176 to 1,725 a month until May 2026, then fell to 332 in June. App trips did not fall.
Where trips go
12.5% of trips stay in Co-op City and 10.7% end outside NYC (TLC zone 265, place not given). The rest go mainly to the north-east and east Bronx: Eastchester (9.0%), Williamsbridge/Olinville (6.4%), Allerton/Pelham Gardens (4.0%), Van Nest/Morris Park (3.8%) and Woodlawn/Wakefield (3.7%). Arrivals come from the same zones.
Fares and pay
The median app trip is 3.55 miles and 14.7 minutes, with a $17.67 fare (third in the Bronx) and $15.34 driver pay (tips and tolls not included). Pay per engaged hour is $64.50; it counts only time with a rider. App riders tipped 2.0% of the fare. Only 1.6% of app pickups paid the Congestion Relief Zone fee, one of the lowest shares in the Bronx, so trips into Manhattan's congestion zone are rare.
Yellow trips are the longest of any sector here: median 10.8 miles, 42.2 minutes and $39.50 on the meter. The green cab line in the table shows a $3 median fare beside an 11.16-mile median trip, which looks like a recording quirk.
Pickup rules here
- Hails: Co-op City is in TLC's Hail Zone, which covers all of NYC except Manhattan below East 96th/West 110th Street and the airports (Chapter 51). Both yellow and green cabs may pick up street hails here.
- App drivers: booked trips only. A non-booked pickup can mean a $200–$350 fine for a first violation (80-19(c)(1), Chapter 80).
- Trips leaving NYC: in a taxi or green cab, Westchester and Nassau trips use the meter, with double the meter outside the city; other places need a flat price agreed first. See taxi trips outside NYC.
- Stands: DOT lists no relief stand or taxi stand sign in zone 51 (checked 2026-10-12).

Data on this page
Aggregates of public data. They describe trips and vehicles, never individual people.
Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Monthly cells with 1–9 trips are shown as blank (null). Pairs with fewer than 10 trips are not listed.
