Williamsbridge/Olinville (TLC zone 254) is one of the busiest zones in the Bronx: about 3,611 pickups a day, fourth of the borough's 43 zones. From September 2025 to August 2026, 1,318,004 trips started here and 1,140,725 ended here. Almost all were Uber or Lyft (99%). Trips are short and local, and the zone has both a DOT taxi stand sign on White Plains Road and a relief stand on East 233rd Street.

We counted TLC's yellow, green and Uber/Lyft trip records for zone 254. Direct livery and black car bookings are not in those records, so local car-service trips are left out.

Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Medians/rates need ≥250 trips (else null). labels are LocationIDs as strings; zones[] has names, boroughs, service_zone (from taxi_zone_lookup.csv), suggested slugs and neighbouring zone ids (shared boundary, from taxi_zones.zip).

Taxi stand and relief stand

Two kinds of curb space show up in DOT's open data for this zone (checked 2026-10-12):

  • Taxi stand: a current sign record on the east side of White Plains Road between Magenta Street and East Gun Hill Road reads "TAXI HAILING (SYMBOL) TAXI STAND MONDAY-FRIDAY 6AM-7PM". At a taxi stand, yellow cabs have the right to any vacant spot, and green cabs do too because this is the Hail Zone (80-19(d)(1)). Join at the back of the line (80-19(d)(4)). FHV drivers, including Uber and Lyft, must not pick up at any taxi stand; a first violation is $350 (80-19(d)(2)). Yellow and green drivers must not cruise for hails within 100 feet of an authorized taxi stand (80-19(a)(4)(ii), 80-19(b)(2)(ii)).
  • Relief stand: the south side of East 233rd Street between Carpenter Avenue and White Plains Road, 2 spaces, taxi and FHV, "1 HOUR LIMIT". A relief stand is for parking and leaving the car for a break, not for waiting for fares (NYC DOT).

Rule text: TLC Chapter 80. DOT records can lag behind what is on the street, so follow the posted sign. More: taxi stand rules.

Fares and driver pay

Short trips mean modest pay per trip. The median app trip is 2.67 miles and 13.2 minutes, with a $14.90 fare and $13.12 driver pay (tips and tolls not included). Pay per engaged hour is $63.20, but it counts only time with a rider in the car. Only 1.7% of app pickups paid the Congestion Relief Zone fee, among the lowest shares in the Bronx.

Yellow cabs made 13,167 pickups here, about 36 a day. Their median trip was 9.13 miles and $35.50 on the meter. The green cab line in the table shows a $3 median fare next to a 9.59-mile median trip; that looks like a recording quirk, so do not rely on it.

Who may pick up here

The Bronx is entirely in TLC's Hail Zone (Chapter 51), so yellow and green cabs may accept street hails. App drivers may only take trips booked through their base or app (80-19(c)(1)). See who can pick up where.
