Pelham Bay Park (TLC zone 184) is one of the quietest zones in the Bronx, but it changes with the seasons. Over the year it averaged only about 183 pickups a day (66,829 from September 2025 to August 2026). Monthly pickups more than doubled from January (3,750) to June 2026 (8,609), and weekends are much busier than weekdays. Unlike most Bronx zones, more trips end here than start here.

All counts are from TLC's yellow, green and Uber/Lyft trip files for zone 184; direct car-service bookings are not included.

Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Medians/rates need ≥250 trips (else null). labels are LocationIDs as strings; zones[] has names, boroughs, service_zone (from taxi_zone_lookup.csv), suggested slugs and neighbouring zone ids (shared boundary, from taxi_zones.zip).

Arrivals come earlier in the day. Weekend drop-offs peak around noon to 1 p.m. (about 25–26 an hour), about five hours before the pickup peak. The trip records do not link a rider's arrival to their return, so this is a pattern, not proof. On weekdays drop-offs peak early, at 6–7 a.m.

Fares and pay

The median app trip is 3.55 miles in only 11.5 minutes, with a $15.42 fare and $12.98 driver pay (before tips and tolls). Because trips move quickly, pay per engaged hour is $68.21, third in the Bronx. That figure counts only time with a rider; in a zone this quiet, waiting time between trips can be long, and the data does not measure it. App riders tipped 2.8% of the fare, about $0.60 a trip.

Mixed units: render as a table.

The yellow tip-rate cell is blank because there were too few card-paid yellow trips to publish a rate.

Rules here

  • Hails: the Bronx is in TLC's Hail Zone (Chapter 51). Yellow and green cabs may take hails; green cabs recorded fewer than 10 pickups here all year.
  • App drivers: pre-arranged trips only, through your base or app (80-19(c)(1), Chapter 80). Accepting a ride from someone who waves you down is a street hail, even at a park.
  • Stands: DOT lists no relief stand and no taxi stand sign in zone 184 (checked 2026-10-12).

We do not list park entrances or pickup spots because we found no official TLC or Parks source for them. For the general rules, read who can pick up where.
