Allerton/Pelham Gardens (TLC zone 3) is a zone of short neighbourhood trips. About 1,642 rides a day start here (599,474 from September 2025 to August 2026), and the median app trip lasts just 11.9 minutes over 2.41 miles. The median fare, $13.78, is the second-lowest in the Bronx, after Eastchester. Almost all trips stay in the north-east Bronx.
The totals below come from TLC's yellow, green and Uber/Lyft trip files. Black car and livery trips booked without an app company are not part of them.
The zone and its seven neighbours
TLC files zone 3 under the Bronx with the "Boro Zone" data label, which has no legal effect. It touches seven zones on TLC's map: Bronxdale, Co-op City, Eastchester, Pelham Bay Park, Pelham Parkway, Van Nest/Morris Park and Williamsbridge/Olinville. Most of its trips go to these same neighbours.
When rides start
Weekdays and Saturdays are almost equal (about 1,683 and 1,693 pickups), and Sunday drops to about 1,389. On weekdays the top hour is 8 a.m. (about 136), then 7 a.m. (119). There is a second bump at 3 p.m. (about 105), earlier than the usual evening peak. Saturday's busiest hour is also 3 p.m. (107).
Arrivals mirror departures almost exactly. Weekday drop-offs also peak at 8 a.m., 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., and the zone has 97 drop-offs for every 100 pickups.
Month by month
September 2025 was the quietest month (42,046 pickups) and March 2026 the busiest (55,608). Winter held up well: December 2025 and January 2026 each had about 51,400. Yellow pickups were small all year and fell further in summer 2026, from 392 in May to 120 in June.
Where trips go
The top destinations are the zone itself (11.0%), Co-op City (8.3%), Williamsbridge/Olinville (7.4%), Eastchester (6.8%) and "Outside NYC" (6.4%, TLC zone 265). Bronxdale and Pelham Parkway take 5.2% each. Apart from "Outside NYC", Norwood and Woodlawn/Wakefield, every top-10 destination is the zone itself or one of its neighbours.
Fares and pay
Short trips make for a low fare and low pay per trip: $13.78 median fare and $11.66 median driver pay (tips and tolls not included). Measured per engaged hour the pay is $63.26, a little above the middle Bronx zone ($62.37). That number counts only time with a rider and leaves out waiting, so it is not an hourly wage. App riders tipped 2.0% of the fare. Airport trips are uncommon (1.3% of app pickups), though more common than in most Bronx zones.
Yellow cabs had 4,147 pickups (about 11 a day), with a median trip of 9.2 miles and $36.50 on the meter.
Pickup rules and stands
The Bronx is in TLC's Hail Zone (Chapter 51): yellow and green cabs may pick up street hails. Uber, Lyft and other FHV drivers may only take trips booked through their base, and a first violation of that rule carries a $200–$350 fine (80-19(c)(1), Chapter 80).
DOT's open data shows no relief stand and no taxi stand sign in zone 3 (checked 2026-10-12). Next door, DOT lists a one-space relief stand on Pelham Parkway South between Wilson Avenue and Eastchester Road, in Pelham Parkway. See relief stands and who can pick up where.

Data on this page
Aggregates of public data. They describe trips and vehicles, never individual people.
Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Monthly cells with 1–9 trips are shown as blank (null). Pairs with fewer than 10 trips are not listed.
