Flushing (TLC zone 92) is a big pickup zone: about 3,978 rides a day start here, 10th of the 67 Queens zones outside the airports. Its rhythm is the reverse of neighbors like College Point and Murray Hill-Queens, where pickups peak at 8 a.m. Riders arrive in the morning and leave in the evening, so pickups peak at night, topping out on Saturday at 9 p.m. It is also the hub its neighbors depend on: it is the top destination for trips from College Point, Murray Hill-Queens and East Flushing.
Trip numbers are TLC Help's totals of TLC trip records (yellow, green and Uber/Lyft), September 2025 to August 2026. The records give only the zone, not the street, so they cannot separate one part of zone 92 from another. Curb details are from NYC DOT open data.
Flushing at a glance
On TLC's zone map, zone 92 touches seven zones: College Point (53), East Flushing (73), Flushing Meadows-Corona Park (93), Murray Hill-Queens (171), Queensboro Hill (192), Whitestone (252) and Willets Point (253). The "Boro Zone" label in TLC's lookup is a data category, not a legal line.
Morning in, evening out
Drop-offs peak early: 8 a.m. on weekdays (about 253), 10 a.m. on Saturdays and 11 a.m. on Sundays. Pickups do the opposite. They rise all day and peak at 6 p.m. on weekdays (about 223), 9 p.m. on Saturdays (about 310) and 6 p.m. on Sundays. On Saturdays pickups stay above 240 an hour from 2 p.m. until 11 p.m.
The data looks like a place people travel to for the day, so evening and Saturday-night pickups are the zone's strongest hours. An average Saturday has about 4,858 pickups, Sunday 4,132 and a weekday 3,772.
Month by month
Pickups ranged from 111,829 in September 2025 to 131,741 in December 2025. August 2026 (126,821) was the second-busiest month, so summer did not slow the zone down.
Where trips go
14.1% of trips stay inside Flushing. The rest spread across nearby zones: Murray Hill-Queens 7.8%, College Point 4.6%, East Flushing 4.2% and Queensboro Hill 3.8%. LaGuardia also takes 3.8%, and 3.4% leave the city.
Fares and pay
The median app trip is 3.31 miles in 14.8 minutes, with a $17.29 fare and $14.90 driver pay (19th of 67). App riders tipped 3.6% of the fare. 5.8% of app pickups go to an airport, 13th-highest in Queens.
The two cab sectors behave differently. Green cabs picked up more riders here (4,451) than they dropped off (2,728), with short trips: a median of 2.87 miles and an $18.01 fare. Yellow taxis did the opposite: 13,922 pickups against 38,797 drop-offs, and their trips from here are long (7.79 miles median, $31 metered fare).
Taxi stand and pickup rules
- Taxi stand: DOT's current sign records include a "Taxi Hailing – Taxi Stand" order on College Point Boulevard between Roosevelt Avenue and 40th Road (west side). Under Chapter 80 §80-19(d), taxis may take any open spot, green cabs may use stands in the Hail Zone, and FHV drivers must not pick up at any taxi stand. Taxis must also not cruise for fares within 100 feet of a stand. More in taxi stand rules.
- Flushing is in TLC's Hail Zone (Chapter 51). App drivers may only take base-dispatched trips (80-19(c)(1)).
- Despite its size, Flushing has no relief stand in DOT's data. The nearest are about 3 miles west in a straight line: Broadway at 72nd–73rd Streets in Jackson Heights (taxi only) and 64th Street in Woodside (taxis and FHVs) (relief stands guide).

Data on this page
Aggregates of public data. They describe trips and vehicles, never individual people.
Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Monthly cells with 1–9 trips are shown as blank (null). Pairs with fewer than 10 trips are not listed.
