Homecrest (TLC zone 123) means many short app trips. In the 12 months to August 2026, 801,963 trips started here, about 2,197 a day. The median app trip is only 1.76 miles, and median driver pay of $10.05 is second-lowest in Brooklyn. Weekdays and winter are busy; Saturdays and summer are much quieter.

Trip figures are TLC trip records for yellow taxis, green cabs and high-volume app services (Uber, Lyft), September 2025 to August 2026, added up by TLC Help. Black car and livery trips outside the high-volume services are not included.

'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Yellow pickups ran at about 590 to 990 a month until May 2026, then 112–125 a month from June to August. App trips did not fall the same way, and the records do not explain it.

Fares, trip length and driver pay

The median app trip is 1.76 miles and 11.1 minutes, with a $12.67 fare and $10.05 driver pay before tips and tolls. Both figures are 60th of 61 in Brooklyn. Pay per engaged hour is $58.78, near the Brooklyn middle, because trips are so short. That number leaves out time between trips, so it overstates hourly earnings. Tips are 2.9% of fares, $0.53 on average.

1.5% of app pickups went to an airport and 2.7% were charged the Manhattan toll-zone fee. Yellow trips have a $24.50 median fare over 4.1 miles.
