Middle Village at a glance
TLC's map gives zone 160 five neighbors: Elmhurst (82), Glendale (102), Maspeth (157), Rego Park (196) and Ridgewood (198). The "Boro Zone" label from TLC's lookup table is a data category only.
Out in the morning, home in the evening
On weekdays the two charts mirror each other:
- Pickups climb fast in the morning: 7 a.m. about 122, 8 a.m. about 140, 9 a.m. about 110. 27.8% of weekday pickups happen from 6 to 10 a.m.
- Drop-offs build through the afternoon to 5 p.m. (about 115) and 6 p.m. (about 113), and 25.7% of weekday drop-offs happen from 4 to 8 p.m.
Neighboring Elmhurst shows the opposite: its weekday drop-offs peak at 8 a.m. and its pickups in the evening. Elmhurst is also Middle Village's biggest outside link in both directions: 9.7% of pickups here go there, and 10.5% of drop-offs here come from there.
Weekends are different. An average Saturday has about 1,932 pickups, more than a weekday (1,628). Saturday pickups peak at 6 p.m. (about 124) and drop-offs at 11 p.m. (about 124). On Sundays, 22.7% of drop-offs arrive between midnight and 5 a.m.
Month by month
Pickups were lowest in September 2025 (43,876) and highest in December 2025 (55,846). From January to August 2026 they stayed between about 48,000 and 53,000 a month.
Where trips go
11.1% of trips stay inside Middle Village. Elmhurst is the top outside destination (9.7%), followed by Forest Hills (6.8%), Ridgewood (5.6%), Maspeth and Glendale (5.0% each) and Rego Park (4.2%). Elmhurst is also the top source of arrivals (10.5%), just ahead of trips within the zone (10.4%).
Fares and pay
The median app trip is 2.69 miles in 14.3 minutes, with a $16.50 fare and $13.70 driver pay. That is slow for the distance, so pay per engaged hour is $59.93, 61st of 67 in Queens. Engaged hours include only passenger time; real hourly earnings are lower. App riders tipped 4.3% of the fare (22nd in Queens), about $0.89 a trip.
Yellow taxis made 6,966 pickups and nearly three times as many drop-offs (19,279). Their trips from here ran a median 5.79 miles, and 7.3% went to an airport, against 3.2% of app trips. 6.2% of app pickups paid the Manhattan congestion fee.
Pickup rules
Middle Village is in TLC's Hail Zone (Chapter 51), so yellow and green cabs may take street hails. App drivers may only pick up trips dispatched by their base (80-19(c)(1)). DOT lists no relief stand in the zone. The closest are a taxi-only stand on Broadway in Jackson Heights (about 1.4 miles) and a taxi/FHV stand on 64th Street in Woodside (about 1.8 miles). Use the relief stand finder to check others.

Data on this page
Aggregates of public data. They describe trips and vehicles, never individual people.
Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Monthly cells with 1–9 trips are shown as blank (null). Pairs with fewer than 10 trips are not listed.
