Pelham Bay (TLC zone 183) is a smaller east Bronx zone where pickups rose more than in most of the borough. About 988 trips a day start here (360,744 from September 2025 to August 2026), and August 2026 had about 24% more pickups than September 2025. App trips are fairly long for the Bronx (3.39 miles) but quick (11.7 minutes). The top destinations are Schuylerville/Edgewater Park and Co-op City.
These totals come from TLC's yellow, green and Uber/Lyft trip files. Livery and black car trips booked straight with a base are not in them.
Pelham Bay at a glance
TLC lists zone 183 in the Bronx with the "Boro Zone" data label, which is for data only. It has three neighbours on TLC's map: Pelham Bay Park, Schuylerville/Edgewater Park and Van Nest/Morris Park. It ranks 36th of 43 Bronx zones by pickups.
Demand through the year
September 2025 was the low point (24,990 pickups). From December 2025 onward every month had more than 29,800, with a peak in March 2026 (33,007). August 2026 (31,072) was about 24% above September 2025. September was the quietest month in almost every Bronx zone, but the middle Bronx zone rose only about 18% over the same months, so Pelham Bay's rise (5th of 42) stands out. Green cabs had fewer than 10 pickups in every single month (58 in the year), so their monthly bars are blank.
When rides start
Weekdays peak at 8 a.m. (about 81 pickups), then 7 a.m. (68) and 9 a.m. (63). Saturday is the busiest day (about 1,074 pickups against 996 on a weekday and 864 on a Sunday), and its demand is flat from early afternoon to evening, about 62–63 an hour at 2 p.m., 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Late nights are quiet: 6.2% of weekday pickups start between midnight and 5 a.m.
Where trips go
Pelham Bay sends few trips to itself (4.0%). Schuylerville/Edgewater Park is the top destination (10.4%), then Co-op City (9.0%), Van Nest/Morris Park and "Outside NYC" (6.9% each, TLC zone 265 for the latter) and Pelham Parkway (4.3%). Schuylerville/Edgewater Park is also the top origin of trips ending here (11.4% of drop-offs).
Fares and pay: quick trips
The median app trip is 3.39 miles in only 11.7 minutes, with a $15.07 fare. Median driver pay is $12.57 (tips and tolls not included), 40th of 42 Bronx zones, yet pay per engaged hour is $66.58, 7th in the Bronx, because the trips are fast. Remember that "engaged hour" counts only time with a rider in the car. App riders tipped 2.6% of the fare, seventh in the Bronx, and 1.4% of app pickups go to an airport.
Yellow cabs had 2,943 pickups, about 8 a day, with a median trip of 9 miles and $35.50 on the meter.
Rules and curb notes
- Hails: Pelham Bay is in TLC's Hail Zone (Chapter 51), so yellow and green cabs may accept hails. FHV drivers may only take booked trips (80-19(c)(1), Chapter 80).
- Stands: DOT lists no relief stand in zone 183 (checked 2026-10-12). DOT's sign data has a current "TAXI STAND" record on Westchester Avenue near Wilkinson Avenue, but it has no map coordinates, so we could not confirm which zone it is in. If you find a posted taxi stand, FHV drivers must not pick up there (80-19(d)(2)).

Data on this page
Aggregates of public data. They describe trips and vehicles, never individual people.
Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Monthly cells with 1–9 trips are shown as blank (null). Pairs with fewer than 10 trips are not listed.
