East New York/Pennsylvania Avenue (TLC zone 77) is a weekday-morning zone with short, local trips. From September 2025 to August 2026, 747,083 trips started here (about 2,047 a day), and the busiest hour of the whole week is 8 a.m. on weekdays. More than one trip in five goes to the larger East New York zone next door. Apps did 98.2% of pickups.

The numbers are TLC trip records for yellow taxis, green cabs and high-volume app services (Uber, Lyft), aggregated by TLC Help. Black car and livery trips not dispatched by an app are not counted.

'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Medians/rates need ≥250 trips (else null). labels are LocationIDs as strings; zones[] has names, boroughs, service_zone (from taxi_zone_lookup.csv), suggested slugs and neighbouring zone ids (shared boundary, from taxi_zones.zip).

Yellow pickups were small but steady, about 1,100 to 1,600 a month, until May 2026 (1,453). In June they fell to 440 and stayed near 400 through August, a drop of about 70%. Several east Brooklyn zones show the same sudden June drop. The trip records don't give a reason.

Pickup rules here

Like the rest of Brooklyn, zone 77 is in TLC's Hail Zone. A yellow or green cab may pick up a street hail here. An app or other for-hire driver may only pick up a rider dispatched by the base. Picking up anyone else risks a summons under rule 80-19(c)(1): $200–$350 for a first violation, and revocation for a third within 36 months (Chapter 80). See who can pick up where. This is general information, not legal advice.

Stands: DOT's relief-stand data and current sign records list no relief stand, taxi stand or taxi/FHV pickup zone in zone 77 (checked October 12, 2026).
