Spuyten Duyvil/Kingsbridge (TLC zone 220) is a busy north-west Bronx zone on the Manhattan line. About 2,664 trips a day start here (972,299 from September 2025 to August 2026), and 99% were Uber or Lyft. It has one of the 12 relief stands DOT lists in the Bronx: 4 spaces on West 231st Street. Riders here head to Riverdale, nearby Bronx zones, Inwood and Washington Heights, and 8.9% leave the city.
Trip counts here are TLC Help's totals from TLC's yellow, green and high-volume (Uber, Lyft) trip files; direct car-service bookings are not part of them.
Zone 220 at a glance
TLC lists the zone in the Bronx with the data label "Boro Zone" (a label for data, not a legal boundary). It has six neighbours on TLC's map. Four are in the Bronx: Riverdale, Van Cortlandt Park, Van Cortlandt Village and Kingsbridge Heights. Two are in Manhattan: Marble Hill and Inwood Hill Park.
The West 231st Street relief stand
DOT's relief-stand dataset (vqu8-xef9) lists a stand on the north side of West 231st Street between Albany Crescent and Broadway. It has 4 spaces, is open to taxis and FHVs, and the sign reads "TAXI/FHV RELIEF STAND 1 HOUR LIMIT", with no extra hours shown. DOT says relief stands let drivers "park and leave their vehicles for up to one hour" and that they "are not taxi stands" (NYC DOT). TLC Rule 80-19(d)(7) lets any driver take a vacant spot but requires you to obey the posted vehicle types and time limit. The fine is $50 (Chapter 80).
DOT notes its map may not match every posted sign, so read the sign on the street. More: relief stand rules and can Uber and Lyft drivers use relief stands?
When rides start
Weekdays have two clear peaks: 8 a.m. (about 186 pickups) and 5–6 p.m. (about 170 each hour). Saturday is the busiest day overall, about 2,882 pickups against 2,662 on a weekday and 2,454 on a Sunday. On Saturday, demand stays flat at about 170 an hour from 4 to 6 p.m.
March 2026 was the busiest month (88,271 pickups) and September 2025 the quietest (73,541).
Where trips go
The top destinations are the zone itself (13.5%), Riverdale (9.0%), "Outside NYC" (8.9%) and Van Cortlandt Village (8.5%). Upper Manhattan is a steady pull: Inwood 4.9%, Washington Heights North 3.0% and Washington Heights South 2.9%. Trips into the zone come from the same places in almost the same order.
Fares, pay and tips
The median app trip is 2.77 miles and 13 minutes, with a $15.27 fare and $13.29 driver pay (before tips and tolls). Pay per engaged hour is $65.38. It counts only time with a rider on board. App riders here tip 4.3% of the fare, $0.90 a trip on average, third-highest in the Bronx. Airport trips are uncommon (1.7% of app pickups) but still fifth-highest in the borough.
Yellow cabs drop off here far more than they pick up: 24,720 drop-offs against 8,990 pickups. Their median trip from here is 7.5 miles and $31.94 on the meter.
Rules, the bridge and the Manhattan line
- Hails: the zone is in TLC's Hail Zone (Chapter 51), so yellow and green cabs may accept hails. Uber, Lyft and other FHV drivers may only take booked trips (80-19(c)(1)). Marble Hill next door is in Manhattan but north of 110th Street, so it is in the Hail Zone too.
- Henry Hudson Bridge: this MTA bridge links the Spuyten Duyvil area with Manhattan. As of 2026-10-12, the car toll is $3.42 with NY E-ZPass, $5.42 mid-tier and $8.87 by Tolls by Mail (MTA). Who pays it depends on your license type: see Henry Hudson Bridge tolls.
- Taxis leaving the city: on a trip to Westchester or Nassau the meter stays on and the part outside NYC is double the meter (80-17(f)(2)); see taxi trips outside NYC.

Data on this page
Aggregates of public data. They describe trips and vehicles, never individual people.
Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Monthly cells with 1–9 trips are shown as blank (null). Pairs with fewer than 10 trips are not listed.
