Eltingville/Annadale/Prince's Bay (taxi zone 84) has about 344 pickups a day, and its busiest hour of the week is Saturday at 7 p.m., not a weekday morning. Riders here tip the most of Staten Island's 19 busier zones: 6.1% of the fare. Trips are short and quick, so pay per trip is below the island's middle but pay per hour with a rider is 5th-best.
Data: TLC trip records for yellow taxis, green cabs and app services (Uber and Lyft), September 2025 to August 2026, counted by TLC Help. Trips by non-app car services and liveries are not in the files.
Zone 84 at a glance
The zone covers three neighborhood names and touches six zones on TLC's map: Arden Heights (5), Charleston/Tottenville (44), Freshkills Park (99), Great Kills (109), Heartland Village/Todt Hill (118) and Rossville/Woodrow (204). TLC's "Boro Zone" label for it is a data category only, not a legal line (zones explained).
We rank against 19 zones, leaving out Great Kills Park (zone 110) because its 540 pickups are too few to compare.
Two peaks: weekday 8 a.m. and Saturday 7 p.m.
Weekdays start with a sharp morning bump, about 25 pickups at 8 a.m., and a second smaller one at 2 p.m. (about 24). Drop-offs here peak even earlier, at 7 a.m. (about 26). Saturdays have no morning bump. Pickups climb all day to about 26 at 7 p.m. and stay near 17–23 until midnight. An average Saturday has about 396 pickups, a weekday about 342 and a Sunday about 303. Late Saturday night matters here: on Sundays, 24% of pickups start between midnight and 5 a.m.
Month by month
App pickups ranged from 9,488 in September 2025 to 11,444 in May 2026, the busiest month. March 2026 (11,367) was nearly as high. Yellow taxis made only 38 pickups in the year but 421 drop-offs.
Where trips go: Great Kills and the south shore
16.2% of trips stay in the zone. The biggest partner is Great Kills: 13.8% of pickups here go there, and 16.4% of drop-offs here start there. Then come Arden Heights (11.5%), Charleston/Tottenville (10.0%) and Rossville/Woodrow (9.1%). Newark Airport takes 3.0% of pickups and other places outside New York City another 3.0%.
Short trips, good tips
The median app trip is 3.28 miles in 11.1 minutes. The fare is $16.16 and driver pay $12.38 before tips, 12th of 19 on the island. But because trips move fast, that becomes $73.93 per engaged hour. Engaged time is only time with a rider, so real hourly pay is lower once you count the drive to pickups. Tips add $1.63 a trip on average. 3.7% of app pickups went to an airport (3rd of 19), and 2.3% paid the Congestion Relief Zone fee.
Rules for drivers here
- Yellow and green cabs may accept street hails in zone 84; TLC's Hail Zone covers all of Staten Island (Chapter 51).
- Uber, Lyft and other FHV drivers may carry only riders booked through their base. A hail pickup is a 80-19(c)(1) violation: $200–$350 for a first offense (Chapter 80). See who can pick up where.
- No relief stands: DOT's dataset has none on Staten Island (vqu8-xef9, checked October 12, 2026).

Data on this page
Aggregates of public data. They describe trips and vehicles, never individual people.
Aggregated by TLC Help from TLC trip records, Sep 2025 – Aug 2026 (pickup date; TLC publishes trip files about two months after the month ends and may revise them). 'App' = high-volume for-hire services (Uber, Lyft). Taxi records with a negative fare (reversals) are excluded. Averages, medians and rates use 'clean' trips only: 1 minute to 4 hours, more than 0 and under 150 miles, fare above $0 and under $1,000. 'Fare' is the metered fare_amount for taxis and base_passenger_fare for app trips — before tolls, tips, taxes and surcharges — so it is not what the passenger paid in total. App driver_pay is TLC's 'total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes)'. Tips are separate. 'Per engaged hour' divides pay by passenger time only (pickup to drop-off). It leaves out time driving to pickups and waiting for requests, so real hourly earnings are lower; it is not the TLC minimum-pay formula. Monthly cells with 1–9 trips are shown as blank (null). Pairs with fewer than 10 trips are not listed.
