Rossville/Woodrow (taxi zone 204) is small, about 197 pickups a day, but it is Staten Island's airport zone. 4.8% of its app pickups go to an airport, the highest share on the island, and Newark Airport alone takes 4.1% of all trips. Trips are fairly quick, so pay per hour with a rider is the 2nd-highest on Staten Island.

These numbers come from TLC trip records (yellow taxis, green cabs, Uber and Lyft) for September 2025 to August 2026, counted by TLC Help. Black car and livery trips not run by an app company are not included.

Tolls on New Jersey trips

Port Authority bridges and tunnels charge tolls only when entering New York, not when leaving. So on a Newark or New Jersey trip, you meet the toll on the way back. The car toll is $14.79 off-peak or $16.79 peak with a NY/NJ E-ZPass, $19.55 Mid-Tier and $23.30 by mail. Peak is weekdays 6–10 a.m. and 4–8 p.m., and weekends 11 a.m.–9 p.m. (rates as of October 12, 2026; Port Authority). Which bridge you use depends on your route: see the Outerbridge Crossing and Goethals Bridge pages, and who pays the return toll from Newark.

Fares and pay

The median app trip is 3.73 miles in 12.0 minutes, with a $17.70 fare and $13.70 driver pay before tips. Because trips move quickly, pay per engaged hour is $78.85, 2nd of 19 on the island after Charleston/Tottenville. Engaged time leaves out the drive to each pickup and time waiting, so this is not your hourly earnings. Riders tipped 5.7% of the fare, and the average tip of $1.65 is the highest of the 19 island zones compared.

Tip rate = tips ÷ fare. Medians and rates need at least 250 trips in the cell (else blank); counts of 1–9 are blank. Pickup-side stats (fare, pay, tips) describe trips that START here.
