You can take the TLC drug test only at a TLC-approved LabCorp site. NYC Open Data lists 57 sites (updated July 29, 2026): 29 in the five boroughs and 28 outside the city, on Long Island, upstate and in New Jersey. Call LabCorp at (800) 923-2624 to book, or walk in at one of the 8 sites TLC lists with walk-in hours. The test costs $34 (as of October 12, 2026), and TLC gets the results in about three business days.
How to use the finder
- Filter by area. Type your borough, county or town ("Queens", "Staten Island", "Jersey", "Hicksville") in the box above the table. You can also search a street or neighborhood.
- Want to walk in? Sort by the last column. Eight sites show walk-in hours; the rest say to call LabCorp to schedule.
- Look at the map to see which taxi zones have a site. It only shows the 29 sites inside New York City.
- Call before you go. Hours and sites change. The Open Data list was last updated July 29, 2026; TLC's walk-in hours were read on October 12, 2026.
What to bring
TLC's Drug Testing Requirements FAQ says:
What the results mean
- Passed. LabCorp sends the result to TLC. TLC says this takes about three business days. Check TLC UP to see it on your record.
- Test not showing. If you tested but TLC UP still shows it missing, TLC tells you to email the Chain of Custody form to tlccompliance@tlc.nyc.gov.
- Failed (new applicant). A positive test means TLC denies your application, and rule 80-04(g)(3) says that decision is final. Rule 80-08(c)(2)(iv) also bars a new application for one year from the date of the failed test. See TLC application bans.
- Can't give a urine sample for medical reasons. Email tlccompliance@tlc.nyc.gov with a letter from your doctor; TLC says a diagnosis is not required.
When you need a drug test
- New applicants: after you file the application and before day 90. Test early — TLC encourages applicants to test as soon as the application is submitted. Plan all your dates with the 90-day planner.
- Licensed drivers, every year: within the 90 days before your license anniversary (interim test) and, in your renewal year, within the 90 days before expiration. Tests taken earlier are rejected. Late interim tests mean suspension, and a $200 fine if you test 30 or more days late. The full schedule is in our TLC drug test guide and the license renewal planner. Rule details: 80-14(d).
- Paratransit and commuter van drivers are not drug tested by TLC.
